Attention Manic Street Preachers.
You have to be better than this https://youtu.be/9QlAy7fCrYM Even though you have the professional mixing and recording as well as overdub facilities. |

That last bit is genuine: I am sorry to have to have a least favourite Manics album. |
Anyone going to their show tomorrow night in London?
I'd be interested to hear if they play a new song, as they should be in the middle of writing/recording the new album. |
Going to see The Breeders in Camden tomorrow

Was listening to KYE (+B-sides) today and shocked myself by enjoying Wattsville Blues far more than usual. Though I'd still like it more if the vocal had been all JDB.
In fairness to Nicky, I really like his vocals on Locust Valley though. |
The opening of Death Of A Digital Ghost is abominable.

Just listening to GT and it is astounding to remember that New Art Riot, GT, GATS, THB and EMG were all released within a period of six years, yet with such utterly divergent musical styles and aesthetics, and outstanding creativity.
To put this period and its prolific shifts in context: six years ago, the band released National Treasures, and we were just finished with PFAYM. |

That's very much how it works - it can lose a band a larger fanbase in the short term, but gains them respect over a longer period.

In case anyone wondered, here's the time between each studio album:
GT > GATS: 498 days GATS> THB: 435 THB > EMG: 631 EMG > TIMTTMY: 848 TIMTTMY > KYE: 918 KYE > L: 1324 L > SATT: 918 SATT > JFPL: 743 JFPL > PFAYM: 491 PFAYM > RTF: 1093 RTF > F: 294 F > RIF: 1369 Between KYE and Lifeblood there was FD and LT, of course, and GSTM between Lifeblood and SATT, so RIF really is by far the longest we've ever had to wait for new original material. |
