That's really cool, at first I was like "Why's it filmed in old 4:3 TV ratio?" but it looks really good and love how the camera moves around filming the band and the TV monitors showing the guys playing too. Very nice :)

Manics are on the One Show tonight playing Hold Me Like A Heaven! Hope they get to play the full song and not get cut short.

Lee 13-04-2018 16:23

Wow!

Thought they’d have gone for International Blue.

Looking forward to hearing this.

Track-by-track starting now on Radio X.

I listened to this last night and it was superb and as I haven't received the album yet.The songs were even better than I thought and I love the music. As I'm getting the vinyl, I'm giving the cd to my boyfriend, who hasn't bought recent albums.I loved the way they talked about arranging the album and the songs from Faster studio. I think there are echos from GATS and Lifeblood, GT and a David Bowie sound, that James said. It's definitely another great album.

I do like Nicky's Coat:D

Is that a 3rd guitarist at the back?

Porco 13-04-2018 18:42

Loved the One Show appearance... HMLAH was a bit truncated but decent. But the nice surprise was that feature, great little piece.

Funny how the "millennial woah-oh-oh" was pointed out and james having to defend the choice.
I imagine the band had an argument in the studio about that, much like the argument they had over how avant-garde autumnsong is (on no manifesto maybe?).

I agree, the track-by-track was really good, as usual.

Hah, yeah. I’m glad they owned it. Remember the right to contradict themsevles was always a fundamental element of the band! :)

I thought that too!

Gavin Fitzjohn plays some keyboard on the album, co-produced and contributed backing vocals to Hold Me Like a Heaven and engineered a few of the demos. He featured heavily in The One Show’s making of HMLAH segment.

I’d guess he’s going on the tour as a multi-instrumentalist.
