RIF's digital recording - can you hear the difference?
So, I like RIF - it's not a classic but there are plenty of decent tunes on it. But from the first time I heard it, I thought the production was a little...soft compared to most Manics albums. Then I heard an interview where the interviewer mentioned that the Manics record on analog tape rather than digitally, and James indicated that this wasn't the case for RIF. And it clicked with my initial impression of the production compared to the likes of Postcards and Futurology. Or maybe it's my imagination. What do you all think?

Would make sense though, with their studio move and the rush-on to get the album ready. No faffing about! |
I think it was the Wales Online one with James?

Tbh I didn't notice any difference to my untrained ear. The demos were disappointing in some of their recordings for theal album

I didn't notice anything but then my stereo is on the blink so I had to play it through the my PS3 and was astonished when I heard it properly that the tracks don't follow after each other with no breaks!
