Based on past livestreams like this by other bands, it'll probably have the the band playing in a studio/practice space.

I like the sound of this stream, but how is it "not the right time" to play a GT gig!? If now isn't, then God knows when is. I wouldn't expect a full album gig but a few curios off it.

MSPKYE 13-09-2012 15:39

They should just do a gig, it'd be something special. Hope there's not going to be 'competition tickets' to be in the studio when they do it cause the same old arguments from the Postcards era debacle will arise again

Aye. Well, I can see where they're coming from when they say it's a song that's 'still relevant today' but it's hardly what I'd call 'prophetic'.

If they do, they better do something in London for once. Proper drought down here, I tell thee.

Bit more excited by mention of demos in the style of 'faceless sense of void' etc. Just to be cynical for a second though does anyone else get the feeling the 2disc version will be album& B-sides/live tracks, with rarities kept for the deluxe edition ?

UEF 13-09-2012 16:10

Wonder if any of the demos will be ones NOT found on the much copied bootleg from 10+ years ago

Porco 13-09-2012 16:14

I think the lyrics to Autumnsong were more prophetic really, given that they've all probably had at least one haircut each since 2007.

Flint 13-09-2012 16:15

Also, the pedant/nitpick in me wonders. Based on that article, Condemned to Rock n Roll has never been played live, nor is there a demo of it. Wire said he's found alternative versions of each song for the re-release. Cuuuurious.

UEF 13-09-2012 16:23

Different takes?

Flint 13-09-2012 16:24

Yeah that'd be the most logical one, but still, cuuuuuurious.

Some of us are still laughing at plenty of lyrics from that album in 2012 :p

Also love how Nicky is still pretending he doesn't 'do' the internet. Does Twitter not count as the internet in his world or something?

He can text updates on his phone, that probably doesn't count as too interwebsy for him.

He's still posting on the biggest social networking site around at present, whether he's doing it from his phone or a computer :p

Also confused how this live stream thing is going to work if they're not inviting any fans to watch. Guess it must be in a studio...all by themselves.

Most likely. A fair few bands have done it.
