Manics @ Oxegen - Sunday 10/7/11

Looking forward to this.

Just gonna head for the single day although other than the Manics the lineup for Sunday ain't the best.

Anyone heard which stage they're likely to play?

MoMoney MoJunk 25-06-2011 09:17

I thought they would headline the Heineken stage, but it appears I was wrong.

They'll play the second stage probably. You know, if Manics and The National both played on the second stage and one of them was headlining, I may actually take a mosey down...

Mr.Selfdestruct 25-06-2011 11:22

I like that second stage at Oxegen. The manics played a blinder there back in 2003, when it was in a slightly different spot, not far from where it is now.

Ticket sales must be down even on last year as they're giving away tickets like the new time on the radio. MCD have only themselves to blame. They've alienated most of the actual music fans that have attended it in the past. Now they're reliant on the leaving cert party crowd, but Mammy and Daddy can't afford a ticket as they're out of work.

I'll be there :)

dozzer 25-06-2011 14:57

To be fair, I think this year's lineup is one of the best they've ever had but MCD are living in a very remote universe if they think people can afford €250 for three nights. It's an absolute rip off and when coupled with how unsafe the festival has become it's put a lot of people off.
And as usual the Manics are disgracefully down the lineup, I mean come on, what has Slash done to deserve a solo slot on the main stage?

Manics 4th from top on Main Stage I think

Fair enough but bar bringing in a full band he probably won't be playing that! I was referring to his solo career, can anyone name a song by him in that regard???
Was considering going but with Munster Hurling final on the same day it's now a closed book.

It has to be said, that when it's up, the main stage at Oxegen is the last place I'd want be, in the ''civilised'' world. Bring a bicycle hemlet if you go. Bottles, plastic or not, landing on the back of your head, gets a little sore after a while.

I'd rather iron my own sack than go to Oxegen again. I'd even have second thoughts if I were offered my own slot at it!

You already have your own slot Alan. It's located not far from your sack!

Mr.Selfdestruct 27-06-2011 22:12

Beautiful, Matthew.
