Just discovered a song entitled "When I Grow Up I Wanna Be Richey Edwards" by Patron Saint of Bridge Burners

Interesting choice of title, there.

My ears are better than yesterday when I couldn't hear the music despite cranking up volume. Rewind The Film still sounds like it's sung by Daleks and Anthem For A Lost Cause just sounds like someone banging a newspaper on a desk!

Still not fan of the anniversary gigs but I would welcome a Rewind The Film tour, such a beautiful collection of songs, with a mood of itself.

I'd settle for anything new at this point.

Even a cover.

Symmanine 30-09-2017 20:10

Where are they now?
Broken up or still around?

As far as I can tell from months old Tweets from Sean, they are recording, mixing etc. However given Nicky's Mum has apparently been moved into a hospice a new album might not be their highest of priorities.
I'd like a new album yesterday as well! But they've just got other things pressing down on them.
This place will be buzzing with activity following them next year.
In fact by this date in 2018 I can guarantee the thread "Ugh their new album disappoint" will be at least over ten pages in.
I'd rather a new album than another anniversary edition (Although TIMTTMY seriously needs a remaster! but we'll just have to wait. Get on with our lives and then flap about when the new stuff comes.
The band is in a healthier place than Status Quo anyway!

At the very end of this interview, James says that they're starting work on the new album in late August, which means they should be a month or so into it by now.

And even if Nicky needs a break to tend to his mum, James does all the heavy lifting the studio anyways, so he'll be at it on his own if he has to. I mean, if they've been recording, the songs should mostly be ready to go.

Yeah, we're going to get an album next year which is good enough for me. After releasing two albums in less than ten months, being forced to move studios, and still throwing in a fair amount of live performances, it's not unreasonable to expect a quiet time on the release front.

Automatik 02-10-2017 16:20

Virtually every time I (usually accidentally) find myself listening to an old Manics single on YouTube via VEVO (I know, I know, but I have YouTube on in the background sometimes and don't see), the next song to play automatically is Show Me The Wonder or Anthem For A Lost Cause.

No matter the preceding song. Quite jarring.

Silver lining: We'll never have to hear Together Stronger again.

IntlDebris 10-10-2017 11:38

Wait until Wales get into the European Championship again and it gets rereleased.

Solving integro-differential equations is ×10 easier when I listen to Postcards from a Young Man!

The album or the song? I have to admit that I have a soft spot for the song. When it comes to the album, I feign amnesia and disown the me who actually thought the album was really rocking and social-critical-like on release. I don't know what came over me? Maybe I was still crushing on JDB too much? :D

The album! I find it musically rich and sincere. When I like something I just like it lol, no regrets.

I might give it another chance. Maybe. :)
