I reeeeeaallly hope they do something for Everything Must Go 20 - even if it's just a one off gig - it's such a fucking good album and a milestone for a new era.

I thought that too!!!

i miss the feeling when everybody screamed during THB concerts "sterilise rapists, all i preach is extinction'
once u discover such unity, for a lack of better words, you are left so fucking empty

I need to see them play this again as I only started screaming along (In a higher pitch) during the second side of the album!
But obviously, kept quiet during TIHOE.

Yep.

Everyone properly went for it. Amazing.

Strawberry 09-02-2015 15:51

I was in Tesco today and I saw someone that looked like Sean Moore.

Borderliner 09-02-2015 17:53

Gold Against the Soul is my favorite album now. Lol but I guess I'll get to Futurology and then back to TIMTTMY again. Oh, I love these closed geodesics <3

Oh I always feel so awkward saying it's one of my favourites because of all the GATS-bashing that goes on, so glad others love it as much as I do!

While I can't claim to be overly fond of Nostalgic Pushead or the lyrics of Symphony of Tourette's, there is no denying that that album has the most outstanding run of singles they ever pulled of. And Sleepflower. So the haters can push off. :D (yes, I do like the title track, even.)

Deets 09-02-2015 21:42

CAN WE HAVE A EUROPEAN TOUR YES? BERLIN YES? OKAY? NOT CRAPPY FESTIVALS. VENUE TOUR. THIS SPRING

YES?

Frozendiva 09-02-2015 22:15

Fix the typo on the Manics site tour announcement. Februady? Really?

GATS is one of my all time favourite albums of all time ever. It is absolutely exceptional and I love it so much. There is something incredibly powerful about how angry yet restrained it is. It feels like the album, with gritted teeth and tense muscles, is about to burst with the aggression it can barely hold on. Instead it keeps pushing it down, turning it inwards.

GATS lovers unite!

I must say though, the only song I usually skip is Roses In The Hospital.

People do say the entire album is very manufactured but Roses is the only element that I consider a bit bland and over produced.

Suicide Aldi 10-02-2015 08:12

Roses is the hospital is the best song on there! Lol. I quite like GATS, even the tital track! The only song that I dont see all the fuss about is sleepflower. Its such an over rated song.

It's a good song to put as your waking allarm.

I must agree with that. It's very sort of light hearted yet melancholic. Strange. You've made me want to listen to it now!

:joey:
But many songs of that album are good as awaking allarms, though.

With La Tristesse and Despair having the typical morning sound, Sleepflower and Yourself besides the sound have the lyrics too. :p

Borderliner 11-02-2015 06:22

It's so damn good to wake up with intro from Found That Soul.

gracie 11-02-2015 21:56

I can always imagine jumping out of bed fully clothed and skipping out the door and into an elevator and out of an apartment block and through the city streets to the Miss Europa intro.

gracie 15-02-2015 09:43

Would have loved hearing the conversation between Jenny Saville and Richey about THB artwork.

Geranium Terrorists 19-02-2015 16:44

I keep finding TIMT and EMG in charity shops. It seems that 50% of them have one of those two. I once managed to find two copies of both within one sprawling shop.

I've been volunteering in a large charity shop of solely music & books for about 6 months now, we have hundreds of CDs and not once have we had a single Manics album! Not even a copy of Forever Delayed. It really surprised me, seeing as I've seen most of the other albums in other charity shops. The most Manics we've had was a Design For Life and Australia CD single, both of which I snapped up and took home! So the band are either really popular in my area and no one wants to donate their albums, or no one bought them in the first place :(

Littlesue 19-02-2015 18:39

I often see EMG and TIMT in Poundland

Lord Revan 19-02-2015 22:45

When there is a Manics vid on Youtube that is from a festival, the sound is always horribly mixed.

Frozendiva 19-02-2015 23:00

Thanks to Hall or Nothing for their donation to the Velindre charity hike.

Read that as Jimmy Saville!!:surprise::lol:

gracie 20-02-2015 13:13

Prologue to History sounds like a Richey lyric. Full of references and stuff.

Haha my Dad did that when I asked for a Jenny Saville hardcover book thing of art

Strawberry 24-02-2015 19:18

I'm watching Storage Hunters. * And I saw a man on there that looked like Sean Moore. Also, he had long hair and a green T-shirt.

* I'm not that keen on it but Marc likes it.

Lord Revan 25-02-2015 14:08

A line in JDB's "Say Hello to The Pope" goes "I'll even dance to old-time music for you", and I must agree that there is no greater measure of a man's love than his willingness to make a fool of himself to the voice of Frank Sinatra.

Borderliner 25-02-2015 21:18

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep on PSP and there was a moment when Maleficent ordered Terra to steal the light from Aurora's heart that reminded me of You stole the sun from my heart XD

gracie 26-02-2015 17:16

I quite like Black Holes for the Young! It kept growing on me.

gracie 28-02-2015 19:13

Indian Summer should be/have been used as a theme or as a incognito 'only fans would know' instrumental in that new Channel 4 thing called Indian Summers.

Like mould! Surely the most comically bad song they ever recorded, and only about 1.5% as good as Murder On the Dancefloor.

Borderliner 01-03-2015 11:27

Listening to No Jubilees and Litany. They have that wintery Lifeblood atmosphere full of regrets and lost memories <3

There's much worse IMO - I probably meant to say that I can 'stand it' though. It's not good. But I can stand it.

I think Black Holes For the Young is one of their best B-sides and should have been on the album. So nurr. ;)

But.... but.... the comedy Transylvania keyboards??! :D

Son of Stopped 01-03-2015 17:56

I would have made a thread about it, and sorry to interrupt the current discussion but:
How would you feel if the band bought out an album but didn't tour it?
"Lipstick Traces" was the last thing I can think of, and even then didn't they do a couple of HMV related appearances?

And "Montana/Autumn '78" and "Buildings For Dead People" are my favourite b-sides from that era.

I wouldn't mind to be honest. But if it was an amazing album I could feel...I don't think I'd be very happy. You can't win really.

& yeah they did some HMV things for LT - I watched footage of one a few weeks ago.
