Roundhouse 30th May (second setlist): "The way women were depicted didn't feel like mine; too cute. I wasn't interested in admired or idealised beauty" - Jenny Saville

Roundhouse 30th May (first setlist): "I'm an angel bored like hell and you're a devil meaning well" - Nina Persson

Wolves Civic: "There's a part of me that still hates everything, and my natural view default setting is still very cynical and dark" - Alexei Sayle

London Roundhouse 28th May 2009 (Favrouts set)
Avant Garde is French for bullshit – J Lydon

London Forum 8th June 2009
Humans cannot save the world, but this is no reason for despair. It does not need saving. Happily humans will never live in a world of their own making - John Gray

Thank you, only just seen the edit. Feel free to add them wherever - theres still an awful lot of gaps though.

Also, not a set list quote but on the back of one of the setlists from Saturday at the Roundhouse was this:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...11_7314818.jpg

no one could explain who, or more impostantly why anyone, would want to do that

Nice list
Does anyone know how long they've been putting quotes on set lists ? I know Richey did some in '49 but what about between then and 2005 ?

As far as I'm aware there wasn't anything in the interim - though I did a lot less in the the 90s than I've done in the 00s so they could have re-appeared for a tour or two and completely passed me by - so I wouldn't want to vouch for that, I'm pretty confident post millenium there was nothing till 2005 though.

Deets 06-07-2009 20:53

I found the Hong Kong one

As a big Vonnegut fan I have to point out that The Preston 20/05 quote is wrong. It's "bearable", not "unbearable." Kind of changes the meaning entirely.

If you fancy adding the US tour to the list Amanda:

Webster Hall, New York:
"I believe in New Yorkers. Whether they've ever questioned the dream in which they live, I wouldn't know, because I won't ever dare ask that question." -Dylan Thomas

Paradise Club, Boston:
"My inspiration has always been life. Just look around, see what's going on and work from that." - Smokey Robinson

I will do at some point as I think I've got most of the quotes - I also need to update the european festival dates as I might have one or two of them as well...its just the effort of it all, especially when theres sleeping I could be doing instead

the_soft_machine 16-10-2009 08:55

now that............is a lot of quotes

i bet Nicky does a lot of skim-reading ;)

Amanda 30-10-2009 19:34

OK, you'll all [potentially double digit numbers of you] be thrilled [vaguely interested] to know I've updated the opening post up to the present date - except theres huge gapping holes in it - so as ever if you have another quote please post.

Especially Vancouver as I'm one short of a full tour. And T in the Park as I think I gave my setlist for that to someone and clearly did not memorize it in a lasting manner first.

BranCox 30-10-2009 19:58

Ooh ooh, here is the one from Norway this summer.

"New stars are seldom 'authentic'- they actually go to fame schools and train for the job. Today's audience doesn't mind if the performers have svengalis & stylists. After all, the notion of the makeover is central to modern TV." -Paul Du Noyer.

kitz 30-10-2009 20:41

I posted Sziget festival's setlist on here when I joined the forum.

I was lucky enough to get two of it :)

"We live in a society in delusion, and if you're awake and not deluded people telling you you're mad. That's why I'm a freak and they're not. But I'm actually not"

edit: oh I just noticed that you've already added it in the first post. I think it still looks good in this thread :P

Deets 07-11-2009 10:44

here are setlists that I've found in today's searching, I see you already have the quotes but it's always nice to see the original things. in advance I say I hide people's faces because I don't know whether they want to be put in public.

Nicky's @ Lattitude, there is also Nicky's bottle ;)

I thought I had but apparently I still need to put up my U.S. quotes. I will but I'm scatty with things like this. I also gave my Boston setlist to someone else so I'll Facebook him for it.

Thats ok - I think I've got all the US/canada ones other than Vancouver. Did you get T in the park though as I gave my one away but forgot to photograph the quote first which is what I usually do.

Thanks Sarah for Norway, I thought I'd said but I hadn't
