We've missed a trick or else used random Manics thoughts for something else but Victorious!

https://www.nme.com/news/music/manic...ine-up-2619634

They are playing a Victorious Festival and don't know exact date so not starting date in your thread.

Oh sorry about that! It just says "Amid the covid-19 pandemic, Americans turn to social distancing" and then links to the Quarantine (In My Place Of) video on youtube.

Suicide is painless gets a mention which is nice. Personally think they should delete the original from existence and just make it a manics song. Original is way too jolly

Hi! Remember I posted that link to a vote on THE GREATEST 21st CENTURY SONGS OF ALL TIME etc?
And INWJTEOL was the sole fucking option?
Well thanks to those who voted.
https://www.loudersound.com/features...ntury-so-far/3
It beat JUST BE-CAUSE JUST. BE-CAUAAAHAUSE so that's something.
No idea what's number one. Just linking. Plus, Just Because... Was a better song than that imo.
That's what we get for having limited options. I mean, fucking anything from JFPL or even KYE would have wiped the floor.
Oh and EIE didn't make it to their BEST ALBUMS OF 2020 OF ALL TIME etc

Edit: Ah JFPL that came out of that halcyon year of... 2006.
Work Experience Kid's revenge?

Ah, I felt shit about mocking Alter Bridge. So here's "Blackbird". Looked at the video and thought "under eight minutes...". At least I gave it until 1.12 before skipping along to see where it went. If you want to like Nickelback but just wish they were edgier. Well aren't you in luck? https://youtu.be/yz_j7nVCJJ0

Didn't mean to be as sarcastic as I came across. But damn! JFPL released in 2006! How hard is it to look at a simple Wiki page? (Not you hummingbird, just the write up)

hummingbird 17-12-2020 20:03

I thought jfpl was released 2008 and podcast was wrong. oops.

I think someone is stretching the definition of an indie so thin that even an electron microscope struggle to detect it.

McFly seem to associate James Dean Bradfield with slagging them off. Journalist doesn't confirm.
I don't remember hearing him go on or mention McFly?

Ooh thanks for the heads up. Haven't picked up a music magazine in ages

You know the gif with the white rabbit pulling a face and the word "huh?" underneath? That's my reaction on reading that

Tim 21-05-2021 18:16

I'm failing to understand his point too, that last paragraph is nonsensical to me. Even though the choice of title is meant to reference the fact the word is overused by all sides for things they don't like.
Anyway, what tweets are people referring to? I see nothing on sean's twitter feed.

I think as he replied to someone else's tweets rather than put out his own original one it doesn't show up on his twitter feed, but you should be able to find his replies in here:

Ah thanks, i was looking at poole's twitter feed. I've seen some nasty twitter threads in my time but that one is a polite sit down for tea and crumpets in comparison.
Again though, isn't the song also saying that orwell's nineteen eighty-four should be taken as a warning and not a suggestion? It's a muddled mess of an article.

LA ex 22-05-2021 10:46

It was a slight exaggeration on my behalf to describe Sean's interactions as a fight, but it's still nice to see the band (especially the 'quiet' man of the group) caring enough to answer back to criticism.

If only twitter had been around in the mid nineties for Nicky to use!

I agree with Sean in that I don't understand Poole's point neither....to me the song is pointing out that we live in a time of Newspeak which we do in many ways....some irony maybe in the fact that Poole who writes about language has missed the meaning here but then maybe...as with so many these days...they miss someone else's point in their blind eagerness to make their own.....

Pete definitely had an interesting time pre-Libertines. There's a hilarious clip of him somewhere from a news show where he's one of the first people queuing up to buy Be Here Now and a subsequent interview with him praising Noel and Liam.
