20/04/15 9.30 Club Washington DC, USA

:D

bgdaniels 22-01-2015 18:35

I'll be there with bells on. Can't wait!

Hunter 22-01-2015 19:47

While I doubt it'll sell out, I'll probably go on my lunch break to pick up tickets because I'm too chickenshit to wait until after work haha No announcement from 930 Club yet regarding ticket sales though.

bgdaniels 22-01-2015 21:23

Don't worry man, I'm also going right at 1pm to pick up my tickets (and avoid the $10+ dollar in convenience fees).

They haven't announced the show yet, but I'd be shocked if tickets don't go on sale as announced.

Hunter 22-01-2015 22:07

Well I'm definitely calling before rolling down there haha

Sarah22310 23-01-2015 02:56

My god, I can't believe that I'll finally get to see them! And there are other NOVA Manics fans?!?

Hunter 23-01-2015 09:54

A couple of us anyways haha
I'm just hoping the curse of the 930 Club doesn't hit them a 3rd time.

bgdaniels 23-01-2015 12:51

You bet! They've been my favorite band since the mid-90s. I saw them in Philadelphia/NY in 2009 and let out a rebel yell when I saw 930 Club in the promo email. Fantastic venue and it'll be great to see it filled with other Manics fans experiencing a landmark album/tour.

I'll be getting drinks at Solly's beforehand and, rest assured, will be going to work late the next day. Needless to say, I am *pumped*.

Hunter 23-01-2015 13:06

I'm hoping they announce a Philly date on the 21st so I can skip work entirely haha

A curse :surprise: I don't think I know that story?

Also - just want to make sure I'm not missing anything - we don't have a sale link for this show yet, right?

Sarah22310 23-01-2015 14:17

Yeah, the show isn't mentioned on 9:30's website and I can't find any ticket info on Ticketmaster or Ticketfly. Is the 9:30 curse striking again? Dun dun DUNNNNNN.

Rocking Chair 23-01-2015 16:23

I called the 930 club and there was a mix-up and it didn't get listed on their site. They promised to have it up in 30 minutes, though. However, the link is already live via Ticketfly and tickets are on sale now (just got mine!).

The person I spoke to said that you can email boxoffice@930.com if you have any trouble with being able to access tickets.

However, While I was communicating with the 930, a fine individual in American Manic Street Preachers fans on Facebook directed me to the link below:

https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/e...utm_medium=bks

Rocking Chair 23-01-2015 16:23

Tickets are $25 plus fees ($35 total if purchased online).

Hunter 23-01-2015 16:43

Thanks for the link, I wonder how long the 'early sale' will be in effect as those are only available online and not in person at the club.

Booked and cancelled 2 shows at the 930 Club in 1999.

Dates in the second link didn't end up happening, went with this instead:

I suppose I should have called before posting this haha the club just told me that they'll be on sale at the box office at noon (which will save me a few $$$).

Takk 23-01-2015 17:03

I want to go to this one so bad! Humm, direct flight. hmmmm.

Hunter 23-01-2015 18:39

4 aces up in this bee-yatch

bgdaniels 23-01-2015 18:53

Also just walked over and grabbed two tickets. Can't wait!! Total of 52 bucks if buying in person - very reasonable.

Rocking Chair 23-01-2015 19:13

Nice! Guess I could have waited. ;) But super-excited regardless.

Hunter 23-01-2015 19:21

Well in fairness I didn't realize until now that you could buy 'early sale' tickets in person at the club or I would have saved a few bucks on Sturgill Simpson and Death From Above 1979 tickets that were also 'early sale' that I bought online haha Though it may vary by show as to whether the walkup option exists and thankfully for the Manics it did, I couldn't justify paying an extra $30-40 over a $4+$3-4 subway ride.

bgdaniels 23-01-2015 20:14

I believe you can walk up and buy tickets for any show - I've done it for Foals and Chromeo with no problems.

Any show on regular sale is absolutely no problem to buy in person; however I thought (apparently incorrectly haha) the unannounced 'early sales' that they do from time to time (where they don't list it on the club site and only have hidden ticketfly links) were only available via that online option.

Hunter 24-01-2015 01:02

The 9:30 Club will be a great place to catch the show but admittedly in the past I had been harboring fantasies of them playing Jammin Java in Northern VA when they returned to the states (anyone who has been there knows what I mean, good lighting, good sound but a capacity of only 200, talk about a fucking dream Manics show!).

Sarah22310 25-01-2015 20:03

Today, I did something I've been dying to do for 20 years: I bought a pink feather boa, camo face paint and a tiara. I may be 40 years old but, dammit, I have waited for this show half of my life. I've so excited and overwhelmed at the prospect of finally, finally, FINALLY getting to see them! (apologies for the gushing)

Hunter 26-01-2015 00:49

I'm really surprised, not that I have much of an online presence on the 930 Club forum but I check their 'just announced' thread regularly...judging from the chatter there are a LOT of people excited for this show, much more than I had anticipated.

Backfire 27-01-2015 03:52

Purchased two tickets so I'm good

Rocking Chair 20-04-2015 03:43

Anxiously awaiting Monday night. Exciting too that D.C kicks off the tour!

The Holy Bum-Bum 20-04-2015 09:25

Is there any chance that someone at this gig can take a picture of the merch stand and post it in this thread?

allisvanity 20-04-2015 10:24

Hope all you stateside folk enjoy tonight! And anybody attending the rest of the tour of course.

Looking forward to seeing the setlists ahead of Cardiff Castle...

Lindz Delirium 20-04-2015 11:24

Sure thing. Will do my best to snap a picture.

IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!

This will be my third Manics show, with the first two being Philadelphia/NYC back in '09. But as a huge fan of the band for almost 20 years (was 12/13 when I first heard ADFL), the excitement of seeing them live in the US is tough to beat. They so rarely come here that they have this almost mythical quality to the me. Needless to say, my girlfriend and I will be losing our shit. Starting off with a beer or 3 at Solly's and getting to 930 Club in time for the opening act just so we can have a good spot to see our heroes live and in the flesh!

And when James comes out wearing his sailor outfit and the Yes quote comes blaring out of the speakers, well...I think everyone know's how I will feel!

As an aside, I'm really curious to hear what the Hits set will be - will they play Futurology material, considering the album never came out here? They have to, right? I'd love to hear Walk Me to the Bridge. But anyway, setlists et al will be here before we know it!

I hope everyone has fun tonight and through the rest of the tour - let's do this!!

Hunter 20-04-2015 13:40

NICE!
#2 for me (I passed on their '96 Northern VA show because I was broke as hell and either had the choice to pay to see them as an opener or see Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as a headliner, given that Nusrat cancelled the rest of his tour after the DC show and passed away less than a year later I still feel like I made the right choice though I would have loved to have seen the Manics in a large outdoor amphitheater just for the novelty factor).

beautyfindsrefuge 20-04-2015 13:46

This will be my second show tonight - see everyone soon!!
