Same here. And kinda done the Castle thing with the THB gig, so hey ho.

Dancing Kirby 26-11-2018 12:05

Looks like the Wire’s constant sucking up to Sunflower Bean has really paid off!

Adam Manic 26-11-2018 13:52

Hmm so no presale for this? Just straight to General Sale?

UEF 26-11-2018 14:44

Not often you see as gig for £39 these days, fair play.

Abstract Unknown Girl 26-11-2018 14:53

I had a feeling they might play the castle again for this! I know people had suggested the Millennium stadium, but that seemed a bit of an overreach to me ;)

Let’s hope One Direction don’t announce their comeback to play the stadium on the same day again

Glasnost 26-11-2018 22:13

Won’t make it sadly. The one day next year I couldn’t

hummingbird 27-11-2018 08:16

Errmm shall I go ?

Unfortunately not, got a friends wedding :)

burnleybassman 29-11-2018 15:02

Anyone else surprised by this date? THB is an iconic album and was virtually sold out for good reason. As much as I love it, I can't see it selling out for this album.

Routine Builder 29-11-2018 15:44

I feel opposite. It's a Manics gig, In Cardiff, on a Saturday night, in June, playing the album most of the general audience would be associate them with.

hummingbird 29-11-2018 18:19

There were some at the THB gig that didn't know they were playing the album and complained they didn't know the songs. I expect this to be much the same except the songs will obvs be more familiar. People don't pay attention.

It'll get some enthusiasm for the first 25-ish minutes. Then "My Little Empire" and it'll tail off until the "hits" in the second half.

I'll be trying to get tickets just before I have to head out to work. If I don't, I'm going to see them in Birmingham anyway. Which might be a "better" experience than the Big Welsh Outdoor Gig that attracts people who frankly, may have taken a wrong turn on their way to a Stereophonics gig or something.

Abstract Unknown Girl 30-11-2018 09:50

Tickets booked nice and quickly this morning!

blackflower 30-11-2018 11:11

Not to be nitpicky but I'm pretty sure the gig's happening in 2019 not 2018 :)

Wish I could go but trying to cut down completely on travelling for gigs, it's becoming too expensive for me.

I'd happily have gone again for this but not to be.. Think it makes logistical sense for em to do Glastonbury too, suspect Friday more likely than Sunday maybe.. It's about the right time for em, they average one every five years..

To be fair, Cardiff handled both gigs great that day. We stayed in Newport so hung back for a pint and got last train back. Couldn't believe how straightforward it was.

Quite surprised they're doing the castle again. With them moving Everything Must Go over to Swansea I wondered if they'd move This Is My Truth somewhere else again. Unless Swansea was more of a plan b? I dunno. Cardiff always makes sense anyway. Caerphilly Castle could've had potential too, but transport and hotels could've been an issue.

UEF 02-12-2018 12:48

It'd be great for them do somewhere really Welsh one day. Not Cardiff! ;) But one of those beach gigs could've been special.

sculptureofabloke 03-12-2018 08:43

As much as I love Cardiff I would like to see them somewhere different, but quite limited for viable options for a gig of that size in South Wales. Decent sized park in Pontypridd that might do, but bit buggered for transport and hotels.

I was only joking ;) The only time I really noticed all the One Direction fans was when I went in search of food in the afternoon. We always stay at the in-laws' for gigs in or around Cardiff, so didn't need to worry about hotels either.

Anaconda Vice 11-12-2018 20:23

I remember speaking to a dad sat next to me on the train home who had took his kids to see One Direction, and to make matters worse, he was going to the following night as well! I wished him luck as I got off at my stop.

I'm glad it's the castle and not a stadium.

wireobsessed 12-02-2019 13:54

Has this sold out??

hummingbird 12-02-2019 17:41

I think it has. Was still thinking of going... can't now :p

wireobsessed 13-02-2019 13:22

I'm gutted, seriously.

Might they release more? Can't remember if they did for THB .. someone's bound to have one for sale nearer the time on here :)

Peculiar 19-02-2019 20:49

Damn it. I just went to try and buy. :(

wireobsessed 20-02-2019 11:50

Some sites are saying they have limited tickets and then they haven't. If anyone has any info please let me know. I really want to go and have put a ticket request on the wanted section xxxx

blackflower 20-02-2019 12:49

Keep an eye on twickets as well - tickets often come up closer to the time!

wireobsessed 27-02-2019 12:21

Yeah I am thanks. If you hear anything pls let me know.

*Found That Soul* 26-06-2019 16:31

Whats the capacity for this?

ZiZi 27-06-2019 10:47

Good question? Is it sold out btw? Travelling from Belgium to see this show after I missed the THB-show over there (which I still deeply regret).

*Found That Soul* 27-06-2019 17:50

I’m sure it’s sold out. I think the holy bible gig there was around 10k

Lee 28-06-2019 09:45

Is this going to be on the red button like it was in 2015?

Routine Builder 28-06-2019 10:10

With Glastonbury on? fat chance!

Why’s there a fat chance? There are about 700 channels on Sky these days plus apps and radio stations etc.

Hardly beyond the realms of possibility even with Glastonbury on.

Son of Stopped 28-06-2019 22:46

Might be recorded to show on a summer's day later next month by the earliest? It's got the Sounds of the City logo, but could be thousands of different Sounds of the City events that didn't get recorded or broadcast.
You'd think a name like the Manics would have confirmed, it could all be a surprise!
But have a great gig whoever is going!

Abstract Unknown Girl 28-06-2019 23:57

We saw The Killers at the Castle tonight and they weren’t filming it, so I don’t see why they would film the Manics either. Last time they played the Castle, it was just their own gig, whereas this is a series of gigs over the weekend as part of Sounds of the City (Paul Weller is playing Sunday too), so it’s not really all about the Manics this time.

Son of Stopped 29-06-2019 13:16

Live Facebook stream https://m.facebook.com/events/342050069824044 possibility?
Might not work for people without Facebook.
AUG, I agree, but this was a just in case thing!
