Know Your Enemy Survivor
It's survivor time again... and this is one i've been looking forward to since I started doing these.
It's Know Your Enemy! A divisive album... but what can we agree on? There is, of course, the usual B-side survivor, actually featuring The Masses Against the Classes, plus all 9 studio KYE b-sides. It has now concluded; thanks to all who voted. The same can be said about the album survivor, for it too has ended. SONGS DESTRUCTED AT BIRTH: Album: 17. Wattsville Blues 28%, 8 votes 16. KYE has a special place in my heart. 2nd half of album is hugely underrated. This will be interesting.
|
This is going to take some time. I made my choices easily enough however.
|
Been really excited about this poll all week.
I wouldn't agree that Masses is a b-side but to paraphrase someone in one of the greatest films ever made, 'WhatsAManic, this is your barbecue, man, and it tastes good...' so it's fine by me. Miss Europa Disco Dancer is an abomination and should not just be voted off a poll on the internet but actually be deleted from existence. I voted for a cover, though, obviously. |
I've been looking forward to voting for masses. Yup even over rock n roll music :)
|
ok. Know your enemy is great, and masking tape is the manics best b side ever! Spread the word....
|
Wattsville Blues doesn't want any friends and Rock 'N' Roll Music is going like a hurricane.

Fear Of Motion is one of the greatest songs they've ever done and anyone wanting it out should have their internet connection disabled forthwith.

We're not off to a good start, Wattsville Blues is a great song!
|
10 Reasons why Wattsville Blues is awsome and shouldnt have been voted off this early.
1. That WTF moment the first time you heard it. 2. That bassline in the chorus 3. James epic backing vocals 4. The dirty synth bass in the verses 5. All the random swearing at the end 6. The hilarius crappyness of the lyrics 7. Those layers of drum machines sound great on headphones 8. The weird percussive squeaky noise that goes on in the chorus. 9. The rough distorted vocals 10. The fact that it is pretty unique in the manics cannon. They genuinly have never done another song quite like this. |

Yes, I love this track. Haven’t been on this forum for ages and accidentally voted wrong this morning. Voted for my fav but that one is ok for now. Oops |
We Are All Bourgeois Now can't be bothered to make its way through the world and Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel has made every star disappear.

The links are the wrong way round. Also be careful what you select!
I selected Epicentre but voted for the far superior Dead Martyrs by accident. |
Dead Martyrs.
One of the best Manics songs ever. Woefully underappreciated. |
Their McCarthy covers are about the only covers I can tolerate. Hardly album track material, though.
Also, Ballad Of The Bangkok Novotel is far superior to Miss Europa (generally, I mean). |
