I was listening to it earlier and I was starting to get into the final section where the guitars give it a bit more 'oomph' and the strings hit and just as I was preparing to go with it...James sang 'Won't you tell me that you love me / Tell me what I wanna hear' and it crashed and burned. I like the Manics because they *don't* write generic crap like that.

Agree with this. Lyrics by numbers, I'm sorry to say. And believe me, I am very willing to let any of the band's songs grow on me.
The big guitar solo, as in every Manics track, was a bit good though.
