Manics - Live 8?
After watching some Live 8 YT vids and trying to research on Google, did the Manics get asked or turn down Live 8??
Any info thank in advance, just curious to know. |

But hadn't they taken a break around the time of 2005? (Great timing...)

they would've still played that fucking place though.... They were on the bill on for One Earth for Jan 2006 when that went tits up.

I think they wouldn't have been asked. The bill was pretty much the biggest selling acts in the world at the time or real music legends on a global level (with the exception being bloody Geldof of course), and the Manics were simply not that then.
Also I am sure Nicky called Geldof a twat or something along those lines at some point |

I seem to remember an interview, maybe around the time of SATT, where they said they hadn't been asked but wouldn't have done something like that anyway. Could be very wrong about that though!
Regards, Marwood.

James was the only singer I could make out over the wittering of the stupid presenters when they weren't actually showing an act, just waffling.

I feel sorry for the bands at Live 8. They put in all that time and effort and mainly everyone at home watching were just thinking "Yeah, where's Pink Floyd? When are they on?"
So perhaps it's just as well the Manics weren't on the bill. |

They did the Hillsborough concert which I assume was a charity gig of sorts

I heard that they haven't been asked to play a gig but I'm not sure.
