Yeah i saw them play back in 2000 in salisbury. Tiny little venue called the black pig. They only got through three quaters of their set list before the owner told them to pack up as on about 5 people showed up! They were really good tho!

the Generation Preachers split up in about 2001. I haven't heard of any new tribute bands recently.

Still, I'd see a tribute band while we're waiting for em, they're the only one I've heard of. Find it quite sad that Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes had several tribute bands after 5 minutes, but Manics don't. I need to stop treating my Manics fandom like a football team fandom...

That sent me off looking for some Generation Preachers info as I knew them a bit back in the late 90s. Amazingly there's still an old Angelfire page up and a video of a gig in 1999.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWkSz7USeLQ Lee Small - who was James - still releases music too, reggae influenced. He can belt out a tune - plenty of videos on Youtube if anyone's curious. |

There is at least one, "Generation Preachers". I'm not sure when they last played though.

Janet Street Preachers were kicking around for a bit. But to be honest, I think they only did it so they could use that name, which is fair enough, it's a good name
