Alternative Manics Fantasy Setlist
After the immense O2 National Treasures gig last year where they played every one of their singles, I started thinking about all of the other great Manics tunes that they didn't play and I have drawn up a list of what I think would be the ultimate manics setlist but not including ANY of the singles.
"Rendition" * "Sleepflower" * "Another Invented Disease" * "4st 7lb" * "Enola/Alone" * "Archives of Pain" * "Umbrella" "Elvis Impersonator: Blackpool Pier" "A Song for Departure" * "Yourself" * "The Girl Who Wanted to Be God" "Nat West–Barclays–Midlands–Lloyds" * "Born to End" * "Send Away the Tigers" * "Jackie Collins Existential Question Time" "Of Walking Abortion" * "Train In Vain" "Repeat (UK)" * "Small Black Flowers That Grow in the Sky" "Intravenous Agnostic" * "Further Away" * "Drug Drug Druggy" * "The Convalescent" * "Nobody Loved You" * Winterlovers" * "Gold Against the Soul" * "Raindrops keep falling on my Head" "Underdogs" * "No Surface All Feeling" * I'd be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this or read anyone else's fantasy alternative Manics setlist. Yes B-sides included,
I've included some covers from Secret History plus I just love the Manic's cover of 'Umbrella' |

I thought that No Surface All Felling would be a cracking tune to end the gig on.

It certainly would make a welcome change from "A Design For Life".

Ending on DFL is the best part of any gig, even if the gig's shit!

I agree but it has been overused and it would be nice, on the odd occasion, to end on something equally as epic That's just my opinion though so feel free to tell me to shove it where the sun doesn't shine...

"Engage With Your Shadow" 27 times. Now that's a gig! Plus James won't do his voice out.

As hated as it is by the majority it is one of the most interesting songs from the entire PFAYM era. I hold hope in a small leather pouch that whatever the band come back with in 2014 is equally as interesting...

I had really hoped for some JFPL tunes at the interval at the O2. But then again I had hoped for a lot more from that interval besides. It was quite a let down as far as intervals go.
I'd have to have Freedom Of Speech Won't Feed My Children as that may be my favourite Nicky lyric at the moment

I have never really paid much attention to the music played at the intervals at gigs I have been to. Maybe I'm missing out.

Most bands I see take their pre-gig music seriously; Weller has a top DJ as you'd expect I'm sure to get the crowd going and Morrissey has them video things doesn't he? I was expecting some sort of visual display #hashtagbecauseI'mtrendy
