New JDB album?

Noticed this at the bottom of the latest article on Nme anot GATS

Quote:
“We’ve been learning the songs over the last few weeks and we might play some of them at festivals,” Wire told NME. “There won’t be a full ‘Gold Against The Soul’ tour. To be honest, James has got a solo record coming out so it’ll just be some summer shows for us and we’ll try to get a Manics record out for sometime next summer.”
First I've heard about this. Can't wait to hear it!

Some more info in this Twitter thread. Apparently a concept LP about the Chilean songwriter Victor Jarra, and collaborating with Patrick Jones in the lyrics department.

I hope this is one of those classic Manics “that sounds awful, but turns out to be tastefully done” scenarios

A Victor Jara concept album sounds like it could be the opposite of awful.

Amazing news! I was just rediscovering TGW lately, too. Pity that it won't have any new JDB lyrics on it, though, I really like his personal, conversational style.

No one think it's weird JDB is doing an album with Wire's brother?

It's not the first time. JDB contributed music to an album back in the nineties;
Commemoration and Amnesia.

Patrick Jones was talking about the album on some Facebook thing earlier.

I don’t have FB so would someone be able to dig it out and post the link here? The album’s title will be called Even In Exile (I think that’s what I read).

Yep, according to Patrick it's called Even In Exile, hopefully out August/September, 11 tracks and has a cover of Victor Jara's La Partida - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2WtODiBLIA

Nice one, thanks for that.

Can’t see the FB video though as it asks you to sign up.

Anyone picked up this month’s Mojo yet? Any interesting snippets from James’s interview?

Ive just read the article on Readly.

Due in August

Song titles include “The room with Three Windows” “The Boy from The Plantation” and “Under the Mimosa Tree” “30,000 milk bottles”

It seems to be a largely JDB led project - he contacted Patrick Jones and asked him to provide some lyrics

JBD plays all the instruments, apart from drums, and is pictured in the magazine playing a double bass.

Musical influences - John Cale Parisi 1919, Alessandro Alessandroni, I Cantori Moderni, Pink Flloyd, Man, Jeff Beck and Nico’ Marble Index.

Nice one. Thanks v much for sharing - sounds really good.

Tough old task to get Mojo these days without a yearly sub.

Not sure what to expect given the cover we’ve heard so far (the instrumental one), and the influences mentioned above.

Wire said it’s Lifeson meets Marr. Surely Nicky wouldn’t get it wrong would he
