Has anyone asked...

Had an idea for what could be a good thread, awkward questions that you wonder if anyone asked the manics when they met them in person. For example, to start i'd say:

Has anyone asked them about the Chic/Steps sample in It's Not War, and if so what was the response?

Hello Nicky. Are you really married? Really?

No I haven't asked him that. And no I wouldn't ask him that.

Do you actually doubt he is married? Or do you just want to ride the Wire?

I once knew someone who asked JDB if he was an ELO fan, and got the response of "yeah, there was some good stuff on their Secret Messages album". Which is a weird thing to ask, and a weird thing to answer with (especially if you've ever heard that album).

Why a weird thing to ask though.. I thought James does love ELO?

You're kidding, Secret Messages is awesome!

I can't see many people wasting their chance to say something to them by coming out with anything remotely controversial. I certainly wouldn't.

It was hinted towards on a radio interview, and James sortof went "heyyy, steady on!" and changed the subject.

Off air it probably is, but I'd imagine they'd want to steer clear of any suggestion of passing-off someone elses song as it would potentially change the writing credit.

See The Verve who's Bittersweet Symphony sampled the strings from the COVER of a Rolling Stones song - it all went to court and now Jagger and Richards get the royalties from the song.

Because they think it's crap, sadly.

I was wondering the other day if anyone's ever asked them to confirm that Kevin Shields actually does play on Freedom of Speech...

Considering the Manics' love for Japan, I'd ask them about their favourite cartoons.
