I hate musicals, but if they embrace the Richey tragedy I could see it striking the right notes and earn them a host of older middle class armchair CD listeners.

I'm curious - how exactly did Patrick Jones anger Christians? Surely he couldn't have done better than the Tiger Lillies 'I'm crucifying Jesus/Nail him to the cross/The poor old bastard bleeds to death and I don't give a toss'.

I wouldn't mind it if it was something like The Jersey Boys. A bit of sadness mixed in with euphoria.

Yeah, I would!

I think this is a good bit of "mass communication" but I suppose it all depends on how successful Patrick Jones's other musical fares.
If it gets panned outright I can't see this happening. But if the band were serious about it, other musical playwrights are available? Such as er...

It's a shame Ben Elton did the "Future society getting into music" angle, as that would have been perfect for the Manics.

No, wouldn't want them to do it. Good as they are and everything. Wouldn't be very Manicsy I don't think.

Wouldn't mind James doing a cover of Frankie Valli & The Four Season's Fallen Angel. Would fit well with a scene to do with Richey!

i dont think any musical would be manicsy Imagine *richey* singing songs about being depressed. But then none of those musicals are actually about the bands are they? They just have the songs chucked in.

I love musicals so I say bring it on! Wouldn't it be pretty amusing to hear a theatre chorus singing some of the stuff off The Holy Bible?

But aye, probably would never get off the ground...maybe back around the TIMTTMY era when they were massive but not now.

oooh i know how about a play about the making of the Holy Bible and all the disasters that followed with the musical bit being the last gig at the Astoria (or some of it) including the stage trashing at the end? That might be worth watching.. release it for christmas...that'll put everyone in the right spirit for the festivities

What like a 'Mama Mia' theme but set in Barry Island, a young girl from Brum goes back to find her dad who shagged the mother under Barry Island Pier one night, it could be James, Nicky and Sean as the Dad

I can't imagine there being enough demand for a Manics musical for it to be worthwhile doing tbh.
