Don’t start the Manics legal team scrambling to compare them both! 😉😂

"Brushstrokes of Reunion" was a lyric James said he'd written. Is that another one for the album?

Sounding more and more like Critical Thinking and Onemanmilitia are angry bookends to the album too. Wonder if they are the 2 remaining Wire 'solo' tracks on the album.

My guess from that is Dear Stephen follows Decline&Fall and Brush Strokes of Reunion follows People Ruin Paintings. But then that's following logic! They might pull a "Ah! That's what we wanted you to think!". Paintings Brush Strokes.
It sounds too good to be true but we'll find out soon. This time next month we'll be at fever pitch over it! Can the server cope?

I'm honestly surprised there hasn't been a tracklist announcement with it only a few weeks away. Guessing it'll come with the third single.

Then again... If Being Baptised is about Allen Toussaint then Dear Stephen makes a nice pair of musical tributes?
Of those titles "Out Of Time Revival" I'm most curious about. Obliviously want to hear the entire thing. But Out of Time Revival.
I could go insane speculating what the songs could be about.

I think the band are two busy rehearsing for that Japanese festival next month to put up the details.
This is a good thing because next January they are massively going to take charge of the media frenzy.
What I've noticed is last time R2 handled the vast bulk of media attention for TUVL.
This time 6Music is being implemented.
Wonder if because of the BBC history with the band ITV barely feature them. Unless in News stories.
But if it's quiet it's going to be the loudest when the process starts.
Merry Christmas all!

I think it's a combination of Sony's promotions & marketing people and the band's web managers that will be doing this sort of thing.

If ‘People Ruin Paintings’ is, as a friend suggested would make sense, a finger-wag at Just Stop Oil… I officially give up.

This though. I can’t believe people are shrugging at the frontman of the great political band not even bothering to vote. And the member who’s so proud of his politics degree throwing in some more excuses for that self-indulgent apathy. Looking back now… we slippery-sloped here, huh? There were signs for a long time. I just didn’t or wouldn’t see them for what they were. I still haven’t really accepted it. This band was my LIFE.

How do you separate art and artist when at this point, the art is mostly about the artists and their increasingly vapid views? They don’t seem to stand for anything but themselves anymore. Unless we mean past art, of course

Well it's great to see you back sofarsideways. Genuinely great to see you posting again.
Best thing is not work yourself up about what it could sound like or mean until we hear it.
Although the only vote I didn't turn up for was that Elected Police Commissioner referendum vote.

Can I point out that's it not that James didn't bother to vote but chose deliberately not to vote. There is a difference though might have been slightly better if he had spoilt his ballot so it would be counted. The remain campaign was weak sauce and us remainers bear responsibility for not convincing people.

I must also point out (as someone who voted remain and would wholeheartedly welcome Brexit being reversed) that the benefits of the EU were not spread equally. I think any of us from the PIGS countries and were young in 2008-2010 can attest to that. Wales collectively voted to leave in 2016 and I'm not really sure it can be attributed to Farragy anti-immigrant vote. Wales has treated as a backwater even during the Labour years. In 2016, Wales had spent 6 years being shafted by the conservatives voted in by English constituencies. Why should they have trusted a campaign fronted by the PM f**king them up the ass like a dead pig. While I want little to do with people who voted Leave (especially supposedly leftwing leave voters knowing that it would be gifted to the conservatives to implement), the biggest failure wasn't that the UK voted to leave, but that so many people in this country felt so disenfranchised that they felt the only way they could make was to make the country shoot itself in the foot. Both remainers and leavers created that society and we can't wash our hands of each other. Maybe if we spend more effort trying to make the UK work for everyone, the EU question would be easily solved because it would be relatively inconsequential in the scheme of things.

Aw, thanks, that’s really lovely of you to say ^_^ A shame I’m back talking smack, but hey. Oh definitely, I’d be delighted if PRP turns out to be about something else or from a better angle, just, you know. The feeling of foreboding.

Nah, sorry, completely disagree. It was obvious what needed to be done, regardless of all the complexities; it was actually very simple when it came down to placing an X on the paper. JDB seemed to want to make it about him instead. I think people like to use ‘it’s complicated’ to exonerate themselves.
