There only a Manics song which makes me cry almost every time I listen to it. And there is only a line which hurts me, but it's not just because of that line. It's because of the build-up that led to that line, and all the music that led to that line, and that line itself has been repeated many times throughout the song, but that final time...it kills me every time.
So rewind the film again I'd to see my joy, my friend Yes, rewind the film again So I can fall asleep content Ok, these words are sung many times during the verse by Richard Hawley, but when James sings them at the end of the song, it's as all the sadness of the universe gathers in that very moment. The only time I've heard this song live (Bataclan, Paris, 2014) I cried during this moment, as I usually do when I listen to it. It's the perfect representation of the awareness of dying, I think.
