Nope, it's the opposite. a 12" record cut at 45 RPM will result in wider grooves and, generally, a wider soundstage.
An example would be KYE...which was pressed entirely on to 2 sides of a 12". The only way that could POSSIBLY fit is if it was at 33RPM in order to fit like 30 mins of music on a side. This resulted in TINY narrow grooves (which result in more skips and a "thinner" sound). It was terrible.
