Hi Franny,

Thanks a lot for that...not a bad band at all, really!

Cheers,

Si.

I agree that it wasn't loud enough, although I thought maybe it got a bit louder as it went on. Had to stop singing along as I could hear myself and, more importantly, other people may have been able to.

Even though my ears are totally fkd from 23 years of gigs I still think a certain volume is essential; saw Black Angels last night which is basically just droney psych but it was noisy and totally absorbing and (*whispers*) I enjoyed it more than Blackburn.

I'd agree they're not loud enough, but in general their live sound is very poor.

I just remembered the only bad thing about the gig . . . how much did the upstairs bar (behind the standing area) reek of farts? Oh God, thought I was going to retch, someone lift the smoking ban please.

I went to the Blackburn gig on Saturday and on the whole I thought it was a decent performance. I was disappointed that nothing was played off Lifeblood as I personally love the album. I was quite surprised that Suicide is Painless was played but it was certainly good to hear as was This Is Yesterday. I thought BSP were awful, I was very disappointed with the vocals as you couldn't hear them over the music. It was my 3rd time of watching the Manics and it was certainly a decent night.

I met someone tonight whose mum works at King George's Hall in catering, she took food to the Manics dressing room and asked them if they were feeling nervous before the gig

They told her that they'd been doing gigs for a while, so weren't too nervous. She said to her son later that week. "I think they might be Welsh, but they seem like nice boys."
