You only have to go back to the RIF trailer to see that Kieran is gonna treat every album like it’s The Holy Bible mixed with Futurology.

Parts of that sounded really, really interesting and got me really excited. Other moments left me cold, but hopefully I'll warm to them when I can hear a full track. Definitely optimistic for the whole.
Everyone is different, but for me Rewind The Film and Futurology were absolute triumphs, and along with THB20 that entire period felt glorious for me. So I was really excited for Resistance Is Futile, but I've honestly never been more disappointed in an album, the one gig I went to on that tour was utterly dreadful, and I felt completely disconnected from the band throughout that time, for the first time since the mid-90s. I really didn't like going through that. Whether it's having time off from the band, or the last 12 months in general, I've been really excited for new Manics stuff this week, and the idea of a tour, I am SO up for this. So... Fingers crossed, y'know? Definitely sounds interesting.

I'm amazed you managed to pick out lines! Still interested, still no more wiser on what it actually sounds like. But was good to wake up to.

I'm really glad it looks like Orwellian is the first single, it's the one I'm most keen to hear, especially the lyrics! Recently listened to the audiobooks of Animal Farm and 1984 and so much rings eerily true for today, especially how people behave on social media. Really looking forward to Nicky's take on it.

Not taking to much encouragement from those clips.
Bit to ABBA for me.

Wasn’t feeling too excited when Nicky mentioned about it being very piano-based, but that snippet sounds very, very promising. I like it.

I can’t stand ABBA so I hope it won’t all be like that. Really did want this to be more like Lifeblood but with an edgier feel to it; lots of echoey piano and glitchy noise and such, a sort of dark electronica sound, you know?

The excitement has made me put RIF on. Don't think I've listened to it since the tour. I like it more than I remember.

I've been listening to Postcards and Rewind, my two least fave Manics albums, from the era when I pretty much ceased to care about the Manics at all. Neither are as bad as I remember!
I'll put on RIF next, as I haven't listened to it much at all since 2018 either.

The duets don't interest me much either. Are they really needed on every album? Makes them less special. And the lyrics sound far more Liverpool Revisited than, 30 Year War. Not high end. I dunno, I'll see what we get. But after James' solo effort, which for me was the best thing since Journal I had higher hopes for this record. But I think it's going to be another I'm not going to connect with.
