37. The melodies are simple yet haunting and so are the lyrics. Unlike any of the Manics albums, this can be enjoyed in both the sunshine as well as the snow. It's bittersweet and still gives me shivers!

38. (Of course) "Goal of the month"!
39. A Manic doing a cover version. All current bands should be less precious about this. Good songs are good songs. For example Oasis should perform "Chasing Cars" and ... erm, say ... Elbow should perform "Back For Good". Yeah dream on ... :-) 40. I was going to say "Oh superman" too! Actually I think Which Way To Kyffin is a bit of a classic though, so instead: 40: Best closing song of any Manics-related album this century :-) |

You could be right about Which Way To Kyffin being the best closing song actually Bad Faith!

41. The album is more relaxed about what it is trying to be than any recent Manics Album. Great to have no baggage!
Hmm, maybe it's just us who have all the baggage and expectations with Manics stuff. |

James' face in the video of "That's no way to tell a lie" when the Asian guys behind him start going "Shala lala..."..gets me everytime.

And "Which way to Kyffin" as well...didn't like it at first, but it grew on me and is now one of my favourites.

James's cover of Sinatra's 'The Summer Winds', deep down I reckon James would love to be a crooner like Sinatra

49 - Emigre, but more specifically the "Ooohlalala Ooohlalala Ooohlalala!" that takes over the choruses and makes me laugh! It's like a massive James chorus-line!

52. 4yrs old this summer and it still sounds bright n breezy n oh so refreshingly timeless.
53. Wasn't this when the obsession with James wearing red shirts was born? (forgive if wrong!) 54. Probably a selfish point of view but the fact it didn't really hit the mainstream conscience makes it feel like a hidden special secret still to we the few in the know. 55. James refrains from swearing in any of his songs!! (so you can play it when your mum's in the same room and not have to clear the throat/make coughing noises whenever James commits a blasphemy!) 56. James acoustic version of An English Gentleman in his pad is sheer awesomeness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1aviwD9wJQ Last edited by circle-the-wagons; 28-06-2010 at 22:16. |
