Usually I get there 15 mins before the Manics get on stage

The last time I queued was in 1998 & that was about 5.30pm for the 1st night at Wembley, I remember it pouring down for about 20 mins during the Manics sound-check.

I won't consider the Manic Millennium as it was different to be there early

I would've loved to have been there - no rucksack or cuddly toy here.

quite right, it was the level of violence in the crowd - the band were antagonistic too, really winding the crowd up and keeping them waiting - all part of the genuis Holy Bible / military phase!

I think not being able to see these gigs is my only real Manics based "regret", although I guess it can't be considered a regret as I was 11 and would never have been allowed to go. Ah well.

The core of the Manics was between 1992 - 1995

Man, proper mosh pits & violence but on a nice level.

The only thing that was missing at Brixton in 2007 were coffins as that looked liked where most people had come from, it was beyond dead & the worst Manics crowd EVER

yes I have been to a lot of gigs, maybe you are right about the limpets, and things have changed - I never worry about that sort of thing, more about enjoying the music and being in the pit. But then I dont spend the entire gig playing with my crappy little mobile phone either trying to take pictures and record the music. Manics gigs have certainly calmed down a lot over the years, Astoria '94 was nothing short of a mass brawl - anyone clinging to the barrier with their rucksack then would have been given short thrift!
The Christmas 94 gigs were rowdy but amazing for atmosphere. I did end up punching some moron who was groping a girl from behind and thumping her when she shouted at him. As in he thumped her not me. I know it's easy to say now but on the final night you did feel that it was the end of something. I can still remember lauging when Richey played the beginning of Motown Junk very quietly as James's guitar had packed in and the audience cheered. I fully expected an announcement in the first NME or Melody maker of 95 saying that they'd split up.

Damn right! War wounds indeed, anyone whose been a nutter has had war wounds down the line. Ha I should open a club

Another thing is the songs were faster with better riffs & sounded more aggressive.

Come 1996 they were toned down a tad & today they are far too slow but that's life.
