The Official Guy Massey Appreciation Thread

This doesn't strictly belong in the Appreciation forum as Massey is not strictly part of the band and also this is not meant to be for something dirty etc

Anyway, Guy Massey is a legend. He is a top bloke and has done a lot of great work with the Manics. I have had the pleasure of meeting him and spoke at some length on lots of stuff.

He has also worked with probably my favourite band ever - The Beatles, not many people get to work with them so that's a real achievement!

What a great guy!

Hear hear. I enjoyed reading his long interview on Delirium just now again, seems like a top bloke. It's good he started the trend of being the second guitarist and he did a sterling job, as the PPF tour was brilliant.
Also I very much like his mix of TNWTTAL !

To be honest, I'd prefer him over Wayne Murray. .

he was certainly better to look at than Murray, though I did see him at James's London gig last year wearing sandals and that is unforgivable

I was reading the sleeve of the Abbey Road remaster and saw his name mentioned - I guess Facelesssenseofvoid's first post sort of confirms it but I'm assuming he's the same chap then?

Bloody hell, where did this come from??

Yeah, he's done a lot of work for The Beatles. Which is one reason why he's such a legend and so much better than Wayne Murray (sorry Wayne, you're still a good guy.)

Plus he told me that Paul McCartney was a wanker, which is cool really, rather than sucking up to Macca

Anybody's better than Wayne Murray and Sean Reed, so bring back Naysmith as well.

I wouldn't go as far as bringing back Naysmith, though.

In fact if it was the three of them and Guy Massey that would be the perfect line up. Don't really need keys.........

Plus I would ditch Dave Eringa and get Massey to produce everything.

Massey's guitar playing alone makes him 100 times any backing member the Manics have had since 2005.

Plus he can sing without upsetting children.

Well I'd take Naysmith over Reed any day, no question. But yeah, stick the keys on a backing track and do away with a keyboard player.

Massey never did any singing did he?? he was very shy and just looked down at his guitar or up in the air when I saw him.
