Based on what I heard of the day that's accurate. Robbie Williams wasn't a superstar at the time but that led on to him selling out loads of stadiums here no problem. Plus the lineup was an Indiefest as far as I recall so the fact Williams son over the crowd says a lot for how good he must have been. Despite being young I remember a lot of the buzz about this concert, my dad made the bus that was used for Robbie Williams apparently.
The contract thing is probably bollocks.

Footage was shown on the close up north doc, with a grumpy James in no uncertain terms telling a Cammera man to move..also i have a bootleg recording of this gig the quality is poor but some amusing ramblings from wire about his mum

I have to say, my overiding memory of that day is turning around during 'Elvis Impersonator" and seeing the ENTIRE crowd bouncing along, wave upon wave of thousands of people bouncing along to one of the least mainstream songs from Everything Must Go.
As for Williams he was very mediocre and the biggest reaction he got from the crowd was when he split his pants.
