i think it is criminal that they didn't film the JFPL shows. that is all i am going to say about that matter.

and as for the o2 show not being filmed? really? do you think that will not happen? they've never put out a proper live show on video or dvd. everything live was edited to fuck. the cuba one was split into a farce of a concert and even the millennium one (the nearest we have to a proper live official concert) didn't have any of the banter or between song bits.

i am 99% sure that they will film the o2 gig. i have no evidence to base this theory on. but i still have faith. did you read that WIRE? I STILL HAVE FAITH!!

p.s james, just tell him to do it.

Excuse me but as I am dealing with copyright law extensively for work, I have to stress that saying "I hope they leave Sony" does not mean they will have control over their past recordings (and this may include also all the unreleased material, audio or video; it depends how their contract(s) work).

This having been said, it will not make any sense not to release "No Manifesto" sometimes in the future. Again: is Sony or the band owning the rights over it? And if it is the band, do they have to offer it first to Sony?

Cheers.

i would imagine the past recordings relates to publishing rights; i know nothing of the details behind No Manifesto.

contracts and conditions tend to change from band to band, but a general rule is that the artists usually are the ones fucked over by it.

Seriously. We got god knows how many bootlegged pro shot videos of the SATT tour and fuck all of the JFPL one.

They should do for the O2 what the Beastie Boys did in New York and give mini-cameras to the audience and let them film what they want and then edit it with some pro stuff afterwards.

It'd be great, you'd get the view from the barrier, and the view of the bar when they launch into SKON/SWSS etc.

it will be class to see how clued up the bar staff are, really. if they are wise, they will hear "here's the second ace single off Postcards For A Young Man" and then just start pulling the pints straight away.

It's not the band. As far as I understand it Sony requires money from the filmmakers in other for no manifesto to be released.

One of the many No Manifesto threads.

I think it was to do with Sony wanting licence money for use of the Manics recordings. They are OK to use the live footage and recordings but for the documentary they want to use the original versions of the Manics songs. Otherwise they could use the Studio 99 cover versions, but then the film would be crap.
