The main character is a fictional rock star who mainly thinks in Manics lyrics.

There's that guy Paul Outhwaite who wrote The Preachers on Manic Street too.

In The Beginning It's by Nicky's ex, but it's full of fiction, according to everyone who's read it!

I'm intrigued by this book!

The copy of Namedropper I ordered has turned up today so I'll start it when I've finally finished Richard

Is Namedropper the one that's going to be turned into a film?

It's either fiction, or she's got the most incredible memory for stuff that happened 10 years before she wrote the book.

Do you know her name by any chance? I couldn't find it on amazon.

EDIT:
After not being able to find it this morning, I did just find this one:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Beginning-Li...572203&sr=1-12
which I'm guessing is the right one.

The Joel Lane novel is From Blue To Black. I think there is a bit of Richey in the character, but I think too there's Ian Curtis, even Jaime from Marion (who turns up in Gwendoline Riley's Cold Water). I do like his stuff. It's dark, noir-ish with Birmingham canals, and only 1p on Amazon! (poor Joel!).

In the back of my copy, there's a 'note about the author' thing which says 'Film Four are currently developing it into a film'.
My copy was published in 2003 though, so I don't know if it's already out?

I read The Holy Bible and it seems to stop about 2,000 years before the Manics were even born. If you're going to write a biography at least make sure that the subjects are living within the period being discussed. I think its written by someone called Gideon. And his chapter titles leave a lot to be desired.

There's a quite obscure one "The Preachers on Manic Street" by Paul Outhwaite, turns up on eBay regularly. Haven't read it, but its press is not so good.

I did and it was. The character based on Richey obviously was based on him but he didn't even play a large part in the story in the end.
