I've got a cutting from a music magazine about JDB having a fight while playing a gig in Oxford circa 91-92...I'll dig it out for you.
EDIT: Cambridge, not Oxford. JDB punched a fan who claimed he was part of the rugby team. Last edited by 2004567; 11-04-2012 at 14:48. |

I always meant to ask them about that gig after gigs in cambridge but never seemed to get around to it.

Brilliant - this is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for! Thankyou very much!

Think that gets mentioned in Pricey's book. Dunno if it's true or not. Think it was something to do with 'proving who was the hardest' or something, unless I'm getting confused with a different gig!

Cambridge Downing College May Ball, 22nd June 1991. Plug was pulled by PA hire company halfway through after Nicky kicked a mike stand across the stage, but band carried on playing, eventually trashing stage and James punching a rugger bugger in an alleged 'who's hardest contest'. Band agreed to pay for damage caused and didn't get paid. Eventually escorted off the premises through the rarely used formal gates.

Hi Sherlock,
The best of luck with writing the biography. Sorry I can't help you as I live in New Zealand. All I can give you is a transcript of a interview James did with a radio station here in Auckland. That was in 1999 when the band were due to play at the Big Day Out, but pulled out of the Auckland date. James still came over and did some promo work. |
