The strings worked on Everything Must Go, even if it was overdone to the point were that album sounds almost a little dated now. They were also fine, where they were included, on Send Away The Tigers. On Postcards it just sounds like the strings are in there just for the sake of it, to try and pander a little to people who have not bought a manics album for years.
