I've seen the Manics four times and got it once. You Stole The Sun.. on the other hand; it's so ubiquitous I'm convinced it was being played when they still had a bassist called Flicker.

Considering how some people often joke about Kevin Carter being overplayed, I was quite surprised to find I didn't actually see it live for the first time until the National Treasures show.
I have noted, in various fandoms, that there is often an inverse proportion between the number of times a joke is made about the supposed frequency of a thing happening, and the actual frequency of said thing happening.

Well I've seen THB live. And now that I think about it, on the other two times I saw the Manics they played Kevin Carter!
I'll be back when I google what venues I went to and what they played for a full list.
And even then I was downstairs smoking outside the building do missed "1985" and YSTSFMH.
Really happy to have heard stuff from Futurology live. WMTTB really should become a greater live audience song than YSTSFMH.

I've been into them four years, I think that's pretty good going? What upsets me is because I was so fucking depressed when I saw them in 2011, there's a lot of the gig I can't remember - and it was by far the longest gig as well.

Is KC said to be over played? The joke is more the presence of or combination of EMG, KC, OS and Autumnsong lol.

From that, I really wish I'd gone to see them when KYE came out, but my mum couldn't get me tickets whilst I was at school. Only the singles heard live, and two of those were at the NT O2 gig. Would love to have heard things like Year Of Purification and Miss Europa Disco Dancer live like others have.

Maybe in their next reappraisal of their back catalogue, they'll discover ssomelove for Epicentre or The Convalescent.

Hmm, I just posted a reply but it doesn't appear to have worked. Naughty Internet.

There are some important questions with regards to geeky statistics and lists. For a thread asking what Manics songs I've heard live, I wouldn't list one song as two separate songs merely because one was acoustic or full band, as it's still the same song. If I were asked how many times I've heard these songs live, I may include 'x times full band, y times acoustic', but they still wouldn't be listed as separate tracks. Also not including intro teases done by James when joking with the audience. Hell, I'd be able to claim Symphony of Tourette if that was a rule! So, to the best of my memory, a list of the individual Manics songs and full covers.

Insert setlist from the October 2009 Detroit, Michigan show, since it was the only time I've ever seen them live (until this June!). But to make it interesting, I broke it up by album:

Pre-Albums:
Motown Junk (with All or Nothing intro)

GT:
Motorcycle Emptiness
Little Baby Nothing
You Love Us

GATS:
La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh)
From Despair to Where

THB:
Faster
This Is Yesterday (James only acoustic)

EMG:
No Surface All Feeling
Enola/Alone
A Design for Life

TIMTTMY:
You Stole the Sun From My Heart
If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next
The Everlasting (James only acoustic)

KYE:
Let Robeson Sing

JFPL:
Peeled Apples
Jackie Collins Existential Question Time
Marlon J.D.
Me and Stephen Hawking

SATT:
Your Love Alone Is Not Enough
Send Away the Tigers

Interesting seeing the breakdown of where they took their songs from for that show.

In order of when I heard them - admittedly the first time I saw them live the set list is unknown so I've assumed it was the same as others played at that point.

Ninety nine down, looking forward to the hundredth. Running out of Fantasy seems to be the only song I've heard in it's only outing!

Setlist.fm is great for anyone wishing to compile their own list.

Everything Must Go (12)
From Despair to Where (9)
Australia (7)
Enola/Alone (5)
La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh) (10)
Kevin Carter (7)
Raindrops Keep Fallin' on my Head (1)
Motorcycle Emptiness (17)

You Love Us (17)
A Design for Life (17)
If You Tolerate This Your Children Will be Next (16)
Faster (12)
The Everlasting (7)
