This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours Ulitmate Tracklisting

So, we move on to This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours.

No so much a case of the usual Manics 'album that reacted against the previous' in my view. It felt like more of a continuation to me, albeit with a considerably less rock influence than before. Lush and epic in production, the strings and James' vocals are a highlight for me. There are some fantastic moments, and even if was a little too melancholy for some at least it spawned them their first Number 1. :-)

As previous, here is my tracklisting for the era, along with the locations of where the tracks have been taken from. Again, does anyone know of anymore songs I have missed?

Disc 1 - The Original Album

1. The Everlasting
2. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next
3. You Stole the Sun from My Heart
4. Ready for Drowning
5. Tsunami
6. My Little Empire
7. I'm Not Working
8. You're Tender and You're Tired
9. Born a Girl
10. Be Natural
11. Black Dog on My Shoulder
12. Nobody Loved You
13. S.Y.M.M

Simply the basic album. For a while I used to have to the 2 Kylie Minogue tracks co-written by James at the end of the L.P, 'Some Kind Of Bliss' and 'I Don't Need Anyone' from the previous year. (The production is really similar actually, and if you close your eyes and listen to the first 25 seconds of IDNA it could be a Manics track.) But in the end it's not, so I decided against it. Also a Kylie song after S.Y.M.M? Perhaps, perhaps not.

Disc 2 - The B-Sides

1. Prologue To History (CD1 B-Side to 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
2. Montana/Autumn/78 (CD1 B-Side to 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
3. Black Holes For The Young (CD1 B-Side to 'The Everlasting')
4. Valley Boy (CD1 B-Side to 'The Everlasting')
5. Socialist Serenade (CD1 B-Side to 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart')
6. Buildings For Dead People (CD1 B-Side to 'Tsunami')
7. Train In Vain (Live) (The Clash Cover) (CD1 B-Side to 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart')
8. Kevin Carter (Live at Manchester NYNEX, 24 May 1997) (Cassette B-Side to 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
9. Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky (Live at Manchester NYNEX, 24 May 1997) (Cassette B-Side to 'The Everlasting')
10. If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next (Live from the Cardiff International Arena, 21 December 1998) (Cassette B-Side to 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart')
11. Motown Junk (Live at The Tivoli in Utrecht, Holland, 29 March 1995) (Cassette B-Side to 'Tsunami')
12. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next (Recorded Live For Radio 538) (CD1 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')
13. A Design For Life (Recorded Live For Radio 538) (CD1 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')
14. You Love Us (Recorded Live For Kink FM Alternative Radio, Holland) (CD1 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')
15. Motorcycle Emptiness (Recorded Live For Radio 538) (CD2 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')
16. Kevin Carter (Recorded Live For Kink FM Alternative Radio, Holland) (CD2 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')
17. The Everlasting (Recorded Live For Radio 538) (CD2 B-Side to the Dutch only version of 'The Everlasting')

All the studio b-sides & live tracks from the singles released in this period. Took me a while to figure out if all the live tracks from the cassette singles had actually been released on CD, but with some help from Discogs and the assistance of sculptureofabloke (thank you that man!) it seems they all have been. I must admit I didn't know where half of the live tracks from the 2 disc 2009 Japanese edition of the album were originally from, (I don't own this) until I was pointed in the direction of the 2 disc Dutch only edition of The Everlasting. Disc 3 - The Remixes

1. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next (Massive Attack Remix) (CD2 B-Side to 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
2. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next (David Holmes The Class Reunion Of The Sunset Marquis Mix) (CD2 B-Side to 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
3. The Everlasting (Deadly Avenger's Psalm 315 Remix) (CD2 B-Side to 'The Everlasting')
4. The Everlasting (Stealth Sonic Orchestra Vocal Mix) (Taken from Canadian Promo CD of The Everlasting / Forever Deyaled Bonus CD of Remixes)
5. The Everlasting (Stealth Sonic Orchestra Instrumental Mix) (CD2 B-Side to 'The Everlasting')
6. You Stole The Sun From My Heart (David Holmes' A Joyful Racket Remix) (CD2 B-Side to 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart')
7. You Stole The Sun From My Heart (Joy Is The Ploy Remix) (Taken from Promo 'Remixed' CD / Vinyl Promo of 'The David Holmes Mixes'
8. You Stole The Sun From My Heart (Mogwai Remix) (CD2 B-Side to 'You Stole The Sun From My Heart')
9. Tsunami (Cornelius Remix) (CD2 B-Side to 'Tsunami')
10. Tsunami (Stereolab's Electron Ray Tube Mix) (CD2 B-Side to 'Tsunami')
11. If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next (Massive Attack Instrumental Remix) (Taken from the Vinyl Promo of 'If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next')
12. The Everlasting (Deadly Avenger's Psalm 315 Instrumental Remix) (Taken from the Vinyl Promo of 'The Everlasting')
13. Tsunami (Cornelius Instrumental Remix) (Taken from the Vinyl Promo of to 'Tsunami')
14. The Everlasting (Deadly Avenger's 69th St. Mix) (Taken from the Vinyl Promo of 'The Everlasting')
15. The Everlasting (Deadly Avenger's 69th St. Instrumental) (Taken from the Vinyl Promo of 'The Everlasting')

All the remixes that were included on the CD singles, promo CD's and the ones that were only included on the 12" vinyl promo editions of the singles. I have bought all but 'The Everlasting' one now, just need to buy that one and then get all the exclusive songs from them ripped. Pretty sure all these won't fit onto one 80 minute CD (all but maybe the 69th St. mixes??). No doubt to get all of the above on to 3 discs I could add these two tracks to the end of the regular album.

Anyone think of anything else that should be included in this era please? Remixes, covers, any acoustic tracks that were officially released?

Thank you!

Rob

Awesome track list, really appreciated as I've been trying to do a similar approach. The one track I couldn't find on CD was Tolerate from Cardiff arena, if you've any idea where/if it got a CD release I'd be very grateful.

Hey no problem, I appreciate your recent thread too, when I go back to the early stuff it looks like it's going to be an invaluable resource. I got into the Manics in 96, so everything prior to that is a little hazy, I'm not as clued up as i'd like to be! :-)

The live Tolerate was included on the Japanese CD single of You Stole The Sun, just got myself a second hand copy recently to fill in this gap.

Marvellous, there was even a copy on eBay so that's plugged a gap. I'm glad the thread's useful, I'm finding yours equally so as it's nice to spot any gaps I may have missed.

nah, that's EMG era, especially I Don't Need Anyone - it's another version of Dead Trees and Traffic Islands. Put Horses Under Starlight to it and you have a nice SHINY EP :-)
