Dont get me wrong, the album never did have much dynamic range, but i dont think it sounds any worse. There are far worse sounding albums out there. To me the loudness suits it.

I'm not stupid it was a joke hence the emoji . I have read about the loudness wars and I know exactly what you're talking about ... I merely don't think the album is unlistenable.

I got the joke!
Anyhoo - I wouldn't go so far so to say it's "unlistenable", but it's borderline, and certainly not as enjoyable as it could be. The vinyl (though not perfect) is far better in that regard, but unfortunately, no B-sides on that. |

You don't like it. Moving on.

Again, not what I said, nor was that my point.
God forbid we have actual discussions on the finer points of the topic at hand. |

It's not about liking the actual content - which is great, to be honest.
Imagine this: you bought a beautiful Porsche. Ok. Ten years later, there's the same Porsche, but it has improved motor etc etc, so you are thinking "well, I love Porsches so I'm gonna get one". And then you end with this new and fast Porsche....with broken glass instead of the windows. That's it. This is the new standard - but take a look at U2 or The Smiths - their remastered cd's were actually improved and NOT louder at all.

Yeah, what hurts is that I actually think that SATT is MSP's best sounding record, and I mean as far as production and aesthetics. Unfortunately, it's the mastering that hurts it, squashing the sound, keeping it from being as enjoyable as it could be. I still have the Japanese 2-disc, which sounds pretty good, but some of the B-sides are only really available on this new set.

They should have used Dobly

I read an interview with Nicky a number of years ago in which he said that replacing Underdogs with Welcome to the Dead Zone would have made Send Away the Tigers complete. Having listened to that tracklisting a number of times now, I don't think it fits that well.
