New Manics publishing deal
Just found this, not sure if it's been posted elsewhere but can't see it on quick inspection. I guess it means they just have a new label now? Not sure exactly what it means, if anything...

Smith added: "It’s not a catalogue deal, it’s a futures deal. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all about building the catalogue of tomorrow with the Manics and the records we’ll be working on with them from this point onwards."
If this means the next decade is all about brand-spanking new albums 'n' experimental sonic adventures and not just deluxe reissue anniversary waltzes this can only be a good thing*. (* Lifeblood & GATS special enormo-editions notwithstanding obviously) |

Encouraging signs for us fans eh, doesn't look like they'll be ready to call it a day for a while yet. Job's a good un.

I didn't know they had a signed a deal with Warner/Chappell until the other half asked me about their record label and I saw the news article. I came here seeking further news
The Resistance Is Futile album came out on Columbia (Sony) and I cannot remember how many albums they had left on that deal; I presume that anything after this is now covered by Warner/Chappell? |

Does it have anything to do with the considerably better PR they've had for RIF compared to most things in the past?
