MSP - Great Lost Singles / Rarities Comps & Songs Rarely Played Live Fantasy Setlist
Hi Everyone,
Some other recent R*E*P*E*A*T social media posts which proved popular with MSP Fans, were the following and so we thought that we'd post here just in case any FD Forum users would also like to have a go. Firstly, we simply asked: "If you had to put together a 'Great Lost Singles' compilation (picking only 1 song from each studio album). And then, as a companion-piece to this record, curate a brand new 25trk Double LP of b-sides / rarities as a follow-up to Lipstick Traces (excluding any songs already included on that album) - which tracks would you choose?" Here are our choices and long player titles... Manic Street Preachers: 'History Reprised - The Great Lost Singles' 1. Let's Go To War 2. Peeled Apples 3. Sleepflower 4. Ready For Drowning 5. This Sullen Welsh Heart 6. Yes 7. Broken Algorithms 8. 1985 9. No Surface All Feeling 10. Baby Elian 11. The Second Great Depression 12. Methadone Pretty 13. Golden Platitudes Manic Street Preachers: 'Otherness - Hidden Gems' CD 1 1. Firefight 2. Empty Motorcade 3. Black Holes For The Young 4. Antarctic 5. Broken Up Again 6. It's All Gone 7. Starlover 8. Locust Valley 9. Picturesque 10. Concrete Fields 11. Never Want Again 12. Everything Will Be CD 2 1. Ballad Of The Bangkok Novotel 2. Automatik Teknicolour 3. The Soulmates 4. Melancholyme 5. Holding Patterns 6. Before I Leave 7. (Feels Like) Heaven (Fiction Factory Cover) 8. Hibernation 9. The Girl From Tiger Bay (JDB Version) 10. What Happened To The Blue Generation 11. Blistered Mirrors 12. No Jubilees 13. Fearless Punk Ballad Next, as a follow-up to these tweets, we asked fans: "Which rarely performed MSP tracks, as well as songs never before played live, would you most love to hear as part of a one-off setlist?" Using 2011's 'A Night Of National Treasures' as a template, we allowed ourselves a whopping 38 tracks, but taking into account previous Album Anniversary Tours however, songs from The Holy Bible, Everything Must Go and This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours LPs, were not shortlisted for this particular show. We titled this epic Bruce Springsteen-esque gig, 'Out Of The Shadows', as the vast majority of these tracks have only ever been played live a small amount of times, or, never at all. Setlist Found That Soul To Repel Ghosts 4 Ever Delayed Picturesque Dead Martyrs Marlon J.D. Thank you for your time & Stay Beautiful, R*E*P*E*A*T |

I'll have a think about this, but I would absolutely love if the Manics did a "No Hits" tour.

Blimey, there are some deep cuts in there huh? You have some discerning fans on your social medias. I had to remind myself that before i leave was for that national theatre wales production and i'd forgotten how bloody great it is - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxMILcdWs-M
Pleased to see empty motorcade on there which is a bona fide manics classic and no mistake... Quote:

You and me both! I'd love them to do something like this before they quit. I loved the 'past present and future' tour in 2005 because they played so much stuff which up until then, hadn't seen the light of day in ages.
