as i've been longing for this to happen for very long, i'm really happy about it.
some thoughts - it's very sweet and all. i've always enjoyed nicky's vocal delivery. i guess i expected some more experimental stuff as there were about 36 tracks spanning 12 years. migraines are far out, but not my cup of tea. i guess i'm a bit disappointed that this is a collection of manics sounding production pop songs that are just really good. i still want a sandinistia! experimental gone crazy whatever on cd-r. expanded, not condensed but i still love it as is. tactical retreat, as the light fades away, keeper of the flame are favs. |

It must have taken me about 5/6 listens before i heard the "fucking hell" at the end of 'you wear your broken heart like a dress'.
ETA: Oh, and now i hear james' vocals low in the mix for the last track. Tis a day of revelations...

Expanding - And flowed, flowered for him, fluid neon origami trick, the unfolding of his distanceless home, his country, transparent 3D chessboard extending to infinity. Inner eye opening to the stepped scarlet pyramid of the Eastern Seaboard Fission Authority burning beyond the green cubes of Mitsubishi Bank of America, and high and very far away he saw the spiral arms of military systems, forever beyond his reach. And somewhere he was laughing, in a white-painted loft, distant fingers caressing the deck, tears of release streaking his face. Last edited by Tim; 11-08-2023 at 19:56. |

Anyway, I like this album. It's less daring than IKTZ (given the Manics discography at that moment) but I like it. And in both albums my favourite track is the last one, which in both cases is about "fading". But Everything Fades was the most depressing song ever, while As The Light Fades Away is quite uplifting.
