Not a thought as such but my old boss is in 'the music business' (he told me the dates for the Oasis reunion 2 years ago, told me Manics were at Glasto the last time they were there before they were announced) and knows Martin Hall. He says James is part of some anonymous songwriting team who write for pretty much everyone and he makes more money from being a songwriter for hire than MSP these days.
Would love it if James had co-written Espresso or Padum Padum by Kylie or something |

Edit: Just searched who wrote Good 4 U by Olivia Rodrigo and there's no mystery songwriters listed. Although it was mixed by someone called "Mitch McCarthy" who doesn't have a wiki page and I'm going to wildly speculate is James under a pseudonym referencing the McCarthys.

I really hope one day James records a full Welsh language solo album, he could do some lovely Welsh standards like Gwahoddiad, Blaenwern, Dacw 'Nghariad

Somebody's isolated the James section! Nice acoustic set too. |

Loved This Sullen Welsh Heart.
Great to hear The Boy from the Plantation as well. The best "Manics" song since YLA or 1985. |

Do you think James would ever consider doing a solo acoustic tour - just him and a guitar playing what the hell he likes from the Manics back catalogue along with his solo albums and the odd cover?

Interesting that TSWH was in a different key. Did JDB not have a capo with him or something? Can't remember him changing the key of a song before. It's not even a tough song to sing, one of the easiest I'd say.

Ocean Spray - started life as a drop D song, sounded weird on acoustic, normal after that (ok not a key change but) Little Baby Nothing - in the early 2000s-ish played in D with a 3-capo, F standard after that (ok also not a key change) I think Tsunami has gone up or down a semitone Motorcycle Emptiness - played in D with a cold a few years ago

This is my favourite things he's done in a long time. He really should do a storyteller's type acoustic tour and play some rarities. (We don't need Faster acoustic ever again - remember the 2002 uproar!) |

Well, that was a delightful surprise. The boy from the plantation and ready for drowning... in welsh?! Please, and thank you. He sounds fantastic.
