Pretty sure James did more promo for Even in Exile.

I was just about to say the same thing! He definitely did and even embraced Zoom and making podcasts for it.

Those podcasts were fascinating too and I'd kind of hoped the Manics might do something similar, but guess not.

If it's anything to go by, they are number 1 on Amazon, they were number 2 during the day.

Also the signed version of the album has overtaken the signed version of the Steps album.
Only a few hours left. Still hoping.

Guess it will be a tale of the same of story. Another No.2 album after leading all week. I'm so gutted for the band once again. Maybe next time.

He had loads more time to fill with lockdown. Or knew the album would tank if he didn't make the effort. Plus Victor Jara isn't a typical topic for an album.

They seemed to start to show stuff on Instagram with clips but then it all petered out.
They could've done a #timslisteningparty on twitter ....I bet they've been asked if not for the new album then an old one.

Ah well mebbe they'll hit a record for most number 2s

Why is everyone so certain it will be NO.2? Where is the info coming from?

Hall or Nothing are absolutely useless as a PR company if they aren't even trying to actively promote an album that's got such a strong chance of getting to number one.

Here that is: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?sto...ource=timeline

I mean... that's not likely to be true given it was filmed in daylight with hours to go til the chart deadline. I won't force myself to endure 15 minutes of their company but superficially nothing here suggests this is more than thanking the fans for their efforts, much as James did earlier. They're even encouraging fans to actually finish the download process, which suggests they are still concerned about hitting the winning numbers.

Don't get me wrong, Manics could absolutely be #2 tomorrow. But to read this as a declaration of victory feels off to me?

True it was during lockdown and an unusual concept album, but this is their full time job to be fair You would think they'd expect to have to appear on stuff to promote their new album in the week of its release. I'm not saying any of it was in the band's control by the way, we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes. But it is odd how absent they've been from the usual shows they normally pop up on.

Oh yeah something is up. Just thought that the "name" would let them coast a bit, whereas they would never be able to get away with it with the solo albums.

Well, I reckon Steps will take it judging by the amount of downloads they're getting.

Manics might benefit more financially from more physical sales.

Anyway, we'll see tomorrow

Its been great fun this week, whatever the outcome

Weird they didn't do any promo this week

I've got the slow acoustic guitar and organ music from World In Action playing in my head as the minutes close.
Make of that what you will.
