Us OAPs surely can remember the 29th August 1994 was a Bank Holiday Monday... back in the olden days when shops - everything except the corner shop if you were lucky - were actually shut on Bank Holidays. Even the NME / Melody Maker press adverts all state "Released Tuesday 30th August". I remember having to wait 'til the Tuesday and it was agony.

There was nowt wizardy "interweb" malarkey to get stuff early either. Folks just shuffled about in black and white under slate grey victorian skylines, queuing outside of HMV at 8.45am in sub zero conditions (ok maybe not in August) peering into the magical shop window to see if they'd put the new releases out or had a poster or better still a cut-out display of the band you could beg for / rob / trade sexual favours for. Ah Halcyon days.
Yes remember going to fetch it on the Tuesday morning which was the 30th

On that note, why oh why do folks think the world only consists of the UK? Outside the UK, at least where it was released on the dreaded continent Britain would love to pretend not to be a part of, it WAS released on the 29th.
And happy continental HB anniversary everyone!

It’s a hangover from the days of The Empire. We still think largely that the World revolves around us.

Suede have just announced their 20th anniversary Dog Man Star box; bit light for £100 odd quid in my book, hopefully any THB20 box would have a bit more content...

Here's the 20th anniversary edition of Suede's Dog Man Star:
http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/ne...ry-7-disc-box/

pre-order is £122, hopefully THB won't be as expensive but I wouldn't mind at a blu-ray audio edition.

Suede's DMS box is very much a "yeah......... nope" in my book. similar to Oasis's recent Definitely Maybe box: i'm not paying +£50 quid if all you get is a carrier bag, crappy key ring, cheap badges and quickly knocked off postcards.

Ah well there you go then!

And that Singles Box was fairly recent. Suede like rinsing their hardcore fans of all their cash don't they?!

if THB20 is going to go down the crappy promo tat route, I fully expect a cheap MSP dog tag and a recreation of the NME "Verses From" flexidisc to make up about £25 of the asking price...

Whoohoo, a cassette version with original 1994 inlay? Just like the ones up on eBay for £2? Deal of the century!
