Migraine NO2 , Ballad of the Bangkok Novotel feels at time.
Can't say this sort of thing is for me but a few nice moments - Under California skies for example.

Fun fact: the album is (mis)labeled as "Nicky Wire" on Bandcamp.

Wow, so A Perfect Place to Grow is the song we see him playing in the PFAYM doc. So glad to finally hear it in full.

Engage with your shadow (Jazz Club Mix)

Have only managed to listen to it in bits but on first listen You Wear Your Broken Heart Like A Dress and A Perfect Place to Grow are the stand out tracks for me.

Just finished the album. It was ok but I would be surprised if I listened to it again - I am not as committed as I once was!

Not seen it mentioned, but I notice that Sean Moore plays the drums on Migraine No1.

I also see that a "Clara Enola Jones" plays the clarinet on White Musk - I am guessing she is his daughter?

Really enjoying it so far. Like other folks I was surprised at how cheaply it was priced, and also noticed the MP3s had the album tagged 'Nicky Wire'?

"Migraine NO1" is the standout for me so far.

Not been in the headspace to give this a fair listen yet, anything there as good as engage with your shadow? (I'm being completely serious)

I seriously thought Migraine no.2 was going to break into They're Coming To Take Me Away Ha Ha.
Due to the drums.

Hmmmmmm.... more competent and accomplished than IKTZ but lacks the immediacy and the sense of self doubt but powering on regardless. Not inconsequential but probably not one I would reach for often.

This album is so much better than I Killed the Zeitgeist. And it's really pleasant to listen to.
My favourite songs so far:
A PERFECT PLACE TO GROW
KEEPER OF THE FLAME
MIGRAINE NO2
SAUDADE (similar to Concrete Fields, but I love Concrete Fields)
AS THE LIGHT FADES AWAY.

I haven’t noticed that! Cool!

Fully agree that a lot of the charm of IKTZ came from it's naivety and that is missing from a lot of these songs. I'm liking it more with each listen though and starting to think that You Wear Your Broken Heart Like A Dress is an absolute belter.
