He designed the art on the Know Your Enemy cover and similar looking CDs (think Ocean Spray might've been one)

here’s a bit more info from farrow design that has done manics creative direction with nicky since everything must go:

’With Know Your Enemy, to be honest, out of all the albums we’ve done (pausing), that one was very much led by Nicky. He’d seen this artist (Neale Howells) who he liked and he wanted a piece of his work on it, so although we did the type treatment on it, essentially, the idea for that album and the way that album looked, all came from Nicky.’

If they did try & promote the re release in terms of a a 6 date tour (if possible) they should play at least half the LP, it would be over pretty quick mind you lol

Wow, what a great interview. Never seen that before.

So it’s not a coincidence that the middle period had (IMO) the best graphic design which suddenly stopped after Lifeblood.

Yes, I'm a huge fan of Farrow in general, and they did superb work with the Manics. EMG is one of my all-time favourite artwork campaigns, the whole design is gorgeous and really vivid, with the singles being excellent variations on the theme. As a kid I loved the way you got a sleeve inside a sleeve, sealed up with a sticker on the singles. It felt like a little package to open rather than just a CD case.

Yeah, they’ve designed some of their more iconic stuff and I still hold up the superlative fd artwork as some of their best, personally.
I may be misremembering this but I’m sure that the neale howells artwork did not survive for long when it was displayed in cardiff, punters were not happy!
