Yeah, very interesting to hear that what I would consider to be the best lines in the best 'Richey' and 'Nicky' songs in the album were written by the other! I'm sure Wire claims different portions of songs each time he speaks though so guess the handwritten lyrics will be definitive. Did I hear write that Sean wrote TIHOE too ?

I just listend to the clip though I was hoping to hear more about the lyrics though James said he felt Richey was being vicarious in his lyrics which seems so, more than the interviewer saying 'Obviously people listen to the album read the lyrics and think Richey was a mess and needed help.' and that they have to play it for the first time? I think Richey's lyrics are beautiful, articulate obscure. I never thought the line 'I've been too honest with myself I should have lied like everybody else' was Richey's though I think Nicky was being vicarious like Richey, James and Sean. I hope that all the interview is available to listen to.

I enjoyed this, I thought some of the questions were pretty personal and unnecessary though, especially when Nicky was clearly struggling to answer some of them. It kind of put a dampener on the whole thing, which otherwise contained some interesting information on the album.

I also love how both Nick and Sean (especially Sean) look at Jimbo when he starts talking during the break. They are all "WTF is this?" But the audience involvement makes the song. I'm as bored with DFL as everyone must be but this performance is fantastic. It really shows how important it was to them as people, something that I had forgotten about to be honest. |

He'd best get his lyric sheets out before December!
Nicky towards the end of the fan video warms my heart

Are there any video clips from this anywhere, other than on the BBC site?
I'm sure there was one of PCP on Youtube filmed from right behind me but I can't seem to find it now.

Finally got a listen to this today and was very impressed.
For the most part the atmosphere seemed wonderfully relaxed and the band seemed to enjoy themselves. As has been mentioned it was nice to see JDB getting long overdue credit for the considerable effort he put in on THB. It was also refreshing to hear so much from Sean. Some of the more inevitable questions about 1995, which were there to provide context to the casual listener, were not as tasteless as they could have been. The presenter was also better far informed than one usually expects, and kind with it. The questions from the audience were well-selected, thoughtful and were answered very well, leading to some fascinating, fun and often very amusing revelations. Lastly, the singalong to Design For Life at the end I found very moving indeed. A great listen. Well done to everyone who was present. |

I'm gonna have another listen. Wish i'd got some video clips! I'm wondering if there will be another Mastertapes series this year. They are so awesome but not heard of anything at all for 2015 so far. Anyone working for Radio 4 want to leak some sneaky info?
