Makes me think of a mix of It's Not War, Orwellian and Walk Me To The Bridge with a pinch of International Blue. On 2nd listen now, I'm humming along.

On first listen a lot better than Orwellian but nowhere near as good as International Blue.

It’s either a slow burn or a bitter ‘meh’. I hope it’s the first.

Not too bad but fast burner I reckon. Hope the album is better with a bit more depth

It's fine but rarely is the first single being the track that hooks me. Definitely can see an a mid-80's pop vibe going on similar to their Madonna cover. That transition is going to bother me on repeated listens though as the mixing sounds horrid. Underdogs can take a rest at last.

I like it. It’s upbeat, catchy and James sounds good. Would’ve liked a guitar solo but as a safe, radio-friendly first single it’s nice. Getting a lot of The Secret He Had Missed vibes from it. |

On that first listen it was "okay" for me - the teaser made me hope the majority of the song would sound the same, but oh well

At the start I thought is this going to be their "Friday I'm In Love"? Both in terms of identification and length of career. I'd deleted the dumbphone sound recorder so had to listen!
I see the audio has been uploaded to YouTube while I was either listening eyes closed or typing this message. I really, really got into it after the spoken word bit spoiler. It's... Lifeblood played with Guitars. More stratospheric orbiting planet that Futurology's European centre. This is on first listen. I've rewound it to 16.56 on iPlayer. But then again YouTube! I like it, but I'd have to listen to it again. There's no WTF. Then again I did like It's Not War Just The End Of Love. It was difficult to make out the lyrics for me! Couldn't even do a misheard Manics post because it was just Voyager 1&2 broadcast James vocal. Couldn't even pick out which part was used for the trailer. It sounds Manics, sounds Manics not just already done. But Manics overlooking a part they missed during already doing. A nice 8? International Blue and Walk Me To The Bridge still preferred. Going over to YouTube for second listen. |

I'm in the office today but had a sneaky listen! I like it, but it's very much business as usual after TUVL. I love TUVL but still hope for a bit of a difference in direction for the new album.
Was there any news about the album on the radio?

“Musically with ‘Decline & Fall’ we tried to create forward motion - a song which harnesses the past to propel it into the future - the lyric is one of realisation and understanding - of celebrating the tiny miracles that still exist whilst accepting and embracing managed decline”.

The DJ said there'd be more news "when we have it"
