After having a look at the setlist, I must say that if I were at this gig i would have been abit disappointed at the lack of songs from Lifeblood and KYE - what happened to playing a song from each album?? And no Sleepflower either, I know I must have seen it about 10 times live, but its always a good un! Anyway, I'm sure that if I was at the gig it still would have been amazing.
As I can only afford to go to one gig this time around tho, I just hope that they play a similar setlist to what they were playing at the beginning of the tour (ie- at least one song of each album + sleepflower, and maybe Masses and something other than This is yesterday off THB) - not too fussy eh...!!? Anyway, roll on Bournemouth! Can't wait!!

Me back and neck are still killing me from last night, at my age I should know better, I'm too old for all this jumping up and down carry on.
Finally managed to find the venue, it was supposed to be a ten minute walk from the Travelodge, took me 35 minutes ( Leeds is a twat of a place to find your way around!). Despite being later than I intended I still got to the second row at the front. I had been disappointed reading the setlists of the tour so far but actually being there it is a totally different experience, even songs I may be a bit sick of hearing from earlier tours still sound great when you are there bouncing and singing your head off. It did help that they played From Despair To Where and The Masses Against The Classes, two absolute favourites of mine that I haven't heard live for a good few years. During Masses I thought my vocal chords were going to shred, I still sound hoarse now. Nicky looked cool as fuck in his new coat, with that and the glittery eye make up there was a definite Bolan circa 1973 vibe going on. Without wishing to moan (but I will) I have to agree with what some others have said, some people seemed to hog the barriers afterwards making it harder for other fans to get the chance to meet the band. Luckily just before he went over to the other barrier Nicky asked "does anyone else want anything signing?" I managed to stretch me hand over to him and he took my ticket off me and signed it. Had visions of it getting handed back to someone else but thankfully he handed it straight to me. Got dressed this morning to find glitter all down one of me jeans legs (!), wasn't actually wearing any so not sure how it got down there mind. Probably my favourite Manics gig, looking forward to Brixton more than ever now. |

It was a great gig, stuck behind some tall people for the first couple of songs but eventually managed to get in further by following people who were squishing though the crowd so ended up 10 or so rows back on James' side with room to bop around a bit. The sound in the venue was really good and James seemed to be enjoying it a lot! I even find it annoying when the crowd chant 'leeds leeds' like at a football match though as James was like 'I get the idea..'
Nice to see some photos as I only took one and it was rubbish! We didn't stick around to meet them as have done a couple of times before, kind of glad now as the barrier-hoggers sound lame. Met RichieM (lovely guy, thank you!) and said hi to AUG and now I realise I saw everlasting with lots of eyeliner on like in another thread you posted a pic? Also saw Simon Price when leaving the venue.

Didn't they already do a greatest hits tour?
Looking at these setlists I don't at all regret selling/giving away my tickets to all but 2 dates on this tour. |

Yeah I caked loads on, thought it was gonna drip into my eyes due to sweating like a pig and I'd go blind or something during the gig but it didn't at all. I only saw one familiar face who I've seen at previous gigs over the years, 99% sure it was Abstract Unknown Girl. I don't really know anyone on here to talk to in person so I just talked crap to my brother and when the Manics came on sang my heart out for 90 mins. I saw Price but only just as he had exited a door and then went back in. I thought to myself "What's he doing here?" and mentioned to it my brother but he had no idea who Simon Price was anyway.

Great gig, much better than Blackburn. James was into it throughout and clearly loving every minute.
+James denouncing Lifeblood, like a true communist ;-) +Masses and Hazleton +Crowd singing along loudly +Meeting Sam and her friend, stay beautiful ;-) Badger and I had a great time, thanks. Enjoy the rest of the tour. +Seeing Simon Price +Being 4 rows from the front, singing and dancing to every song +Golden Platitudes, so depressing it's great + Bradfield on form -A number of crazy fan obsessives around the back -Venue was too packed and that element of football tossers, I blame Wire for namechecking John Charles ;-) -Having to get up for work at 6am Last edited by waterintobeer; 12-10-2010 at 17:36. |

Excellent gig; the band - especially James - were on top form. Great venue too; decent sound. Shame that there were a fair few dickheads (including some Jeremy Kyle rejects that came and stood in front of us and sung a couple of lines of Tolerate) wandering around. Although I suppose I should be used to that with Manics crowds these days...they're a varied bunch to say the least!
Still, a few idiots can't taint another immense performance from the lads; wish they'd have played Sleepflower but I absolutely loved the full band live version of This is Yesterday.
