Ah, so Walk Me to the Bridge could've actually been about him considering dumping that bass guitar into the sea from the Øresund Bridge.

I've just seen a couple of clips from the set so far ... but they seemed on FIRE .. like really charged and up for it. The in-song ad-libbing in 'ADFL' .... Looked to be a great show and the band just looked like they were up for it. Some (some) of the recent Manics shows (last couple/few years) have not had this "super charge" about it, at least in my humble opinion ... perhaps THB 20th and the really positive feedback from Futurology has fueled the machine?

Bradders seemed to be absolutely on fire and him and Nicky seemed to be really enjoying the set. There seemed to be quite a few little bits and pieces that they did differently to normal performances in songs. As much as I love the Manics, they do tend to keep to playing the songs in the same fashion live, but tonight seemed a bit more improvised (for want of a better word) than usual.
I agree with that - Wire's playing on Revol was much more interesting than usual and the last few times I've heard it they've extended the song a bit in length before the solo.

There's that ascending guitar thing that JDB has started doing in the break to Revol, plus the noisy intro to Motorcycle Emptiness. they really are on good form at the moment, the EMG and TIMT singles they've been playing for years are sounding really fresh.

The highlight of the set for me was right after Motorcycle Emptiness and the smile going across JDB's face.

"What the fuck have we walked into here?"

So many cool people in the crowd too.

Photographed the set for press, stayed on after, astounded by that performance! Incredible. So many highlights for me… my first (in 14 years) time of seeing P.C.P. being played, Let's Go To War, Revol, Motorcycle Emptiness… so much amazing power in that performance. My olny regret was leaving before ADFL as I had tot get back to the media tent to shoot my next act.

Somehow managed to get barrier right in front of where James was stood for Design For Life... awesome crowd, awesome set! Was with a friend who was looking forward to seeing them after how much i talk about, and he loved them too (and he's usually the sort of guy that listens to Calvin Harris etc, so mainly dance/pop stuff). A solid performance that will get many more neutrals listening

Only just got round to watching the footage (terrible fan I know but I was working at an admittedly much smaller music festival over the weekend!)

There was so much energy and vitality from the band, James was like a man possessed throughout the set. Didn't look at first like the audience was doing much but obviously the guys were getting lots of feedback and lapped it all up. Being inside the tent can only have helped create an incredible atmosphere! Loving the new rocky intro in to Motorcycle Emptiness (though also a big fan of the classical version), solos during MASH (quite a surprising choice?) and Tolerate were fantastic, completely agree that Tsunami and particularly YSTS were given a new lease of life - best version I've seen in ages. All topped off with a massive rendition of Design for Life at the end!

Just a shame the BBC decided to cut out WMTTB and PCP but at least we've got both from Glasto. Hopefully they can keep this up for part 3 at V Fest - does anyone still broadcast it?
