Not that I've seen, he must have forgotten as he did an interview on the song on Saturday and never mentioned it. It does irk me how the band lift lines and verses wholesale without giving due credit.

Well we haven't read the booklet yet. So fingers crossed! It's still not a deal breaker for me. I still know of a non-Manics fan who hates them and thinks they are hypocrites for the "Drop your bombs on all I see". And I gave up arguing with them ages ago.

This is actually a great video. They look fantastic in the moody leather. It makes me think that they should have done a Empty Souls piano riffing type of moody Berlin album rather than the sheen of elegiac pop. Good times.

Have they changed the line back to "Collapsing like the Twin Towers" in the 4K video? I swear it was "Collapsing like dying flowers" in the original video, but it's been missing from YouTube for years so I can't check it.

It's promo, obviously, but that quote from Nicky is actually probably more positive than anything said about TIMT or KYE, so I'd like to think that there's some truth in it at least.

That Empty Souls video is gorgeous, always loved it. The woman in the jewellery shop, the white V-shaped guitar. Great aesthetics. Just not a good PR combination right after TLORN -- they probably should have kept the Twin Towers line and drawn some ire, would have worked better than without it. Dying flowers just turns it into a fully defeatist sigh of fuck-off, which is nice too. But it has more fire in it with that line, the way it is now in the video (cool to see and hear it that way at last!) -- you can better understand where they're coming from and why they're going.
Should have been: TLORN, 1985, Empty Souls. Aesthetically beautiful, though, that video and pretty emotional too -- especially that Potstdamplatz. Who doesn't have eerie sad memories about Berlin? It's a city that seems to be made of them.
