One of my favourites on the album, definitely one of my favourite singles from the last decade. Criminally underplayed live.

Aye. A genuinely lovely song that nailed all that they were trying and failing to do on PFAYM.
And it pisses on Autumnsong from a great height. Put it back in the set please.

Gorgeous song, and I love the instrumental version too.

I love the track too, think it's the best track on SATT and agree with all of the postitive comments in this thread. "Maybe this time we'll kiss and we'll not shake hands" is the line that gets me the most in the song too, I like the video, and often watch this acoustic version.

Lovely song, one of my favourites. I also think SATT > PFAYM,although maybe that's just because SATT was the first album I listened to.

I was getting excited reading this thread, as no-one seemed to have mentioned its similarity to ADFL, which is a good thing.
And then I looked more closely and realised that both StarBright and Deets mentioned it, ah well... Anyhow, probably my favourite off SATT. Criminally underrated really. |

I used to think Indian Summer was very average and I used to skip it. WHen it was announced as a single I was like "what??!" so I played it some more to understand why. After a bunch of repeated listens I thought it was really good. Funnily enough, I had this as one of about 4 Manics songs on my Ipod when I was in Australia in 2008 backpacking and i played stuff a lot and a lovely Canadian girl I was seeing at the time was singing it all the time and she said it was a good song despite knowing nothing else by the Manics! This is my main memory and thought of Indian Summer The solo is very cool too

I never understood why people said it was a rip-off of "A Design For Life". What, it has the same time signature?! So do a lot of other songs!! I personally think "Indian Summer" is one of the few tracks from SATT that is truly enjoyable. A big thumbs-up from me.

Exactly! By their logic every song in a standard 4/4 signature is a rip-off of eachother.

Well it's 2/2 time really though, innit?
Theres a few little similarities, to Design for Life - enough for people to pick up on obviously. Similar beat and time signature, arpeggio guitar, similar falling string break in the middle, lush orchestration. Not enough for it to be a rip-off, just a few shared characteristics is all. It makes a nice 'sister' song. Beautiful. Last edited by Simon; 26-02-2011 at 01:47. |

From what I've heard, Indian Summer never sounded that great live.
