I just watched JDB do From Despair to Where with a bit of a Total Eclipse of the Heart thrown in on one of those Periscope thingies so, you know, that’s something fun to take away from this tour...

Solid gig, sound was a bit shit though. Pretty full although it was 3/4 of the venue. I’d say 5/6k

Much better than expected after reading the thread on the Glasgow show. People give in was the unexpected highlight from RIF.

But... please never play an arena again. Everything is exponentially worse than a decent 2-3000 cap venue, and the band can pull 4,000 tops. Play two nights ffs and give everyone the experience they want.

Maybe, but I’m guessing that less than 5000 paid. Promoters SJM were offering comps in the seats via the venue this week.

Lucky, lucky you! Total Eclipse of the Heart is a stone cold banger! Can't wait to annoy my neighbours with that on repeat when it ends up on YouTube!

That was fab. They seemed to be having fun, most f it went down really well, crowd seemed pretty good and Bradders didn’t seem to be relying on the falsetto very much. Sound was a bit wonky at times, especially when they had the samples on. Overall though that was great. TBTGOG was a real highlight.

Seems like the PFAYM tour all over again. Let's play the singles again rather than songs off the album were actually touring...

Let Robeson Sing? I like the song in its live incarnation but it's a crowd killer.

Was at the Glasgow gig and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don’t get the negativity. Enjoyed much more than the EMG Anniversary show in Glasgow.. (Shock horror..)

Has to be the worst track 4-7 on a set of theirs I've ever come across. And Faster acoustic! Fucking ouch! What a kick in the balls.

It's one line, let's not pretend like it's a full blown cover (which James would totally nail).

Glad people enjoyed the gig though. A Manics gig lives or dies on how much James can give. He's the backbone of the Manics gig experience.

Just noticed the very last line he sings "From Despair to Where?" to the vocal melody of "Total Eclipse of the Heart". It's like having an actual threesome with two of my favourite songs!

Edit: I might have had too much chardonnay this evening. I'll stop now.

Last edited by starfucker; 27-04-2018 at 23:26. Reason: Chardonnay.
